Do you feed again even after you just fed?

So a few days ago I wrote a thread about my son eating to sleep for naps and bedtime. Naps though, he will eat his 5oz bottle and stir around for more, and I'm not talking about another ounce or two he'll eat another 5oz!

I tried to break this, because he would spit it all up (which I knew would happen) but he refuses his binki and I even tried to offer a little water, which he hated.

is he REALLY that hungry? or is he just using it for comfort?
need help.

I've done it a couple of times but put it down too a growth spurt! Maybe try only letting him have another ounce or two...he might keep it down!

No I wouldn't but my LO isn't a good eater as it is. I'd only feed her again if she threw the whole feed up! Could you not add an extra oz to his bottles to see if that would satisfy him? Sorry I can't help more!

Thinking about it 5oz seems so little to me because my LO is a bad eater and drinks that every 3-4 hours. So maybe he is hungry? He's also 6 months soon so might be getting ready for solids in a few weeks. I'm not sure just ideas I could think of!

i feed him for everything

going to sleep
hurt himself
hungry
just because

have you tried a slower flow nipple

Yes I would. I think he'd refuse it if he wasn't hungry x

Vegan, I can't. Major reflux baby so his milk is thickened.

And it's honestly the only way he will fall asleep if we are home.
But I just made a 6oz bottle because it was nap time and he ate about 3oz and is now peacefully napping in my arms.

So I guess I'll just keeping doing this or raise his bottle an ounce.
Weird because he never takes more than 4 except bedtime...hmmm...maybe it's just a sleep thing?

He might be guzzling the milk too quick that he doesn't have time to recognise that he's actually full. Try changing sides to pause whilst he's feeding - it might slow him down and give time for the milk to hit his tummy.

Mine's a lot younger and wants more food when he's windy instead of hungry but this prob isn't the case with your older baby x

He's the world's SLOWEST drinker. I tend to fall asleep during his bedtime bottle because he's so slow :haha:

I think I'll just keep doing what makes him happy and help him nap. Can't deprive him from what he wants! :D

Is he a slow drinker because the teet is too small if the milk is thick? Brooke found it harder to get thicker milk out when she had that. Sorry I can't help more. Hope you sort it :hugs:

Nope. He has fast flow nipple and it comes out perfectly fine, he's just always been a slow drinker :p

You talked about in another thread about him being curious and only wanting to eat before sleeping? Was I reading that right? So is he always eating right before sleeping?

If that's the case then he is probably used to it for helping him settle to sleep and he needs more bottle to help him fall back asleep if he wakes. Jordan was doing this as she usually is eating in the dark right before sleep ( as she is so curious) and she started getting to the point where she needed the bottle to fall asleep. Problem was she would wake up 10 minutes later and not understand where her bottle was and couldn't sleep again without it, so then she had to drink more to fall asleep even though she was full. Then she was spitting up more, tummy ache, etc. I did cc with her last weekend as we had to end the bottle association and rocking association as I just cant be feeding and rocking her all day and night as I have a toddler who was getting very neglected. She is now going down awake but drowsy and doesn't need the bottle to keep sleeping.
