I just took communion and I took the wine which is in a 1 oz glass. Thoughts?

This is a loaded gun question for some people it's normal even some doctors say it's ok personally I don't drink at all while pregnant.

nothing hurts in moderation... personally dont see a problem with it, its a religious thing, not like you one of those pregnant women on the corner of the street with a can on tenant super in your hand...

Our communion wine is in the chalice that gets wiped after every sip. I've actually done my research with taking communion wine and studies have shown that people don't actually get sick any more often taking wine as people who don't take the wine. Even with the research, I will probably not be taking the wine at our church because it's flu season. I probably would take a sip of wine if it were offered in individual cups/glasses which I've seen at some churches. I know many doctors say a glass of wine once in awhile during your pregnancy is not a problem, so I'm assuming that a sip of wine once a week isn't either. ;)

I'm not Christian, so obviously taking communion is a moot point. But if it's offered in individual cups and it holds a special significance for you, I can't see why there is any harm in having a sip. You don't have to down the whole cup if you don't want to. I had a few symbolic sips (maybe about a 1/4 of a glass) of champagne when we celebrated announcing our pregnancy to my husband's family, which I thought was no big deal. However, if you don't want to drink wine, most churches I've ever been to as well as any synagogues (I'm Jewish, we do something very much like communion in our services) always have grape juice available for children and those who can't drink, so you might want to ask if this is an option if you prefer it.

No, we sit waaaay to far at the back of church for me to take the wine pregnant or not. The thought of all those people drinking from it makes me feel a bit icky but I'm a bit of a germaphobe!

I personally wouldn't drink whilst pregnant but I don't ever drink any way, I don't expect a sip of alcohol will do you or your baby any harm x
