Do you think UKIP will win the election?

I was in a bar the other night and people were discussing this and a lot said they are voting, I was surprised at the sort who were, one is a lawyer and one a banker... I think we could be in for a shock you know

Probably because of the flat tax rate if they're high earners.

Yes...yep I guess so

Guess we will have to see who gets in.. I'm stuck who to vote for

For some reason I can't vote in the European elections due to not having British citizenship, but I would probably vote Green if I could. They are the least popular party in my town though (BNP and English Democrats normally get more votes, really depressing).

I do wonder how it would affect expats if the UK did come out of the EU, what with the freedom of movement.

I haven't been living here long enough to apply for citizenship (8 years, only been here nearly 4). I don't think I'd ever want to return to the UK if they ever came into power.

I hope UKIP don't win! Its scary how popular they seem.

I definitely wouldn't ever go back. Probably won't anyway but even less chance it if the UK moves further away from the EU.

Their policies are quite scary actually, when you consider whats behind them!
We better be careful though, a blogger who was talking about them ended up with the police at his door :haha:

I am still undecided who i will vote for yet. Tbh i think the major parties are all promises little action. I have had a look on ukips page and some of things they were talking about in regards to europe is def something that would concern me if it happened.

Lost Control Of Our Borders
• Under EU rules, anyone in the EU can
come to the UK and live, claim welfare
and government services they have
not contributed to.
• The Office of National Statistics
estimates the UK population will
increase by 3 million by 2020.
• On 1st January the UK threw open
its borders to unlimited numbers of
Bulgarian and Romanian citizens. The
Government admits it cannot control
the numbers of migrants from other
EU countries.
• The other parties are still committed
to the EU expanding to include Turkey,
Albania, Moldova and many more.
Under EU rules, all their citizens would
become entitled to live and work in the
UK.
• Mass immigration has coincided with
soaring youth unemployment and stag
nant wages that have not kept pace
with the cost of living
Public Services Under Threat
• Unlimited EU immigration is putting
pressure on schools.
• A growing population is putting a
massive strain on the NHS. Health
tourism alone costs an estimated £2bn
a year.
• Our green spaces are threatened
by over-development largely brought
about by the population pressure
caused by mass immigration.
Risk Of Blackouts
• The 2008 Climate Change Act costs
an estimated £18bn per year – that’s
more than £500 for every household
in the UK. We will scrap this Act.
• EU renewables targets mean
taxpayers’ money subsidises wind
farms that require gas powered
back-up when the wind doesn’t blow.
• The EU Large Combustion Plant
Directive will shut many vital oil and
coal-fired power stations in 2015.
OFGEM warns that plant closures could
cause blackouts

Polices like that would directly affect families and i think that we should all get to vote whether we stay in europe or not. Correct me if im wrong but is labour saying they dont think the people should get to vote re in or out of the eu.

As for the climate change stuff, there is so much controvery over whether climate change even exists or if it does what is causing it. Closing of coal power stations means nuclear and we all know how dangeous that can be look at Japan and Chernobyl.

No one party is giving a clear sign for my vote but i will vote as to not means those that fought for women to vote wasted their time.

I think getting out of Europe would be devastating for the UK. I really hope UKIP don't get in.

God I hope not. It is actually really worrying me seeing so many people saying they are going to vote UKIP and going along with their scaremongering without really thinking about what the implications might be!

I really really hope that the people in the country aren't stupid enough to vote them in.
I wonder how much money UKIP plough into the Daily Fail in order to feed the masses the propaganda that makes people think we need them?

Surprisingly enough its the Tories..

Fail is owned by Murdoch who in the last general election was a large donor to the party as he wanted a nice favour in the b sky b bid. Hence Vincent cabke originally was the overseer of it due to competition laws but messed up so Jeremy hunt (Tory) became the overseer as such.

Still ukip are defo a party that feed of fear off the common person in this country. Its sad really, I keep seeing these things on my feed and shaking my head as its so one sided too.

I'm not sure who I will vote for but I think it is going to have to be tactical voting isnt it? I mean I will vote for who ever is second in the polls (someone said labour) as long as they arent equally as bad/worse (if that's possible). I hope others think the same.

What polls are saying it'll be ukip? All those I've seen recently say labour

I think the record of broken promises by the main three parties is legendary, in particularly how the liberal democrats have sold out on their every promise to get into power with the conservatives, here's some interesting articles for anyone thinking of voting for the liberal democrats to consider:
https://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/harriet-harman/10-broken-lib-dem-promise_b_3925441.html
https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2010/nov/12/lib-dems-tuition-fees-clegg

So all in all the Liberal Democrats simply aren't a credible party to vote for. So how about the Conservatives and Labour party?

Well the Conservatives have a prior for breaking a Europe related promise, when he broke his promise for a vote on the Lisbon treaty:
https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2009/nov/03/david-cameron-lisbon-treaty-betrayal
Also Cameron has taken decisive action to bury his previous promises down the memory hole:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...oken-promises-from-party-website-8937435.html

Also during his time in office, whilst preaching to the world about how the UK supports human rights and how governments who aren't in support of human rights need to suffer regime change, the arms trade coninues to do a brisk business in selling arms to countries that have no respect of human rights. Cameron has done nothing to impose export restrictions on lucrative arms trade to regimes that has no respect for the rights of their citizens, here are the links that discuss the arms trade under Cameron's watch:
https://www.politics.co.uk/comment-...eign-office-prefers-saudi-arms-deals-to-human
https://news.sky.com/story/1116687/britains-chemical-sales-to-syria-revealed
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/nov/22/david-cameron-quizzed-arms-sales-sri-lanka

https://electronicintifada.net/blogs/david-cronin/britain-admits-selling-12-billion-weapons-israel
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...fire-for-selling-arms-to-bahrain-2218423.html

Meanwhile food bank use is rising at its fastest rate under Cameron (So all those dodgy arms deals are not a net benefit to the common man in the UK):
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/food-banks-britain-handed-out-3417601
https://blogs.channel4.com/factcheck/food-banks-is-cameron-on-the-money/12486

So Cameron has a really dismal record of selling arms to regimes with appalling human rights abuses and also treating the UK people with contempt, so no I cannot vote for the Conservative party. The just leaves labour what is labour's record?

Well how about the Iraq war? Was this demonstrably in the best interests of the UK? If a straightforward case can be put forward that demonstrates the absolute necessity of Britain's involvement in Iraq and the scientific analysis the overall it saved British lives would Tony Blair not have proudly published the evidence, the deafening silence in producing such evidence shows that the Iraq war was a monumental failure, here are some news stories about this:
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/...l-not-be-very-kind-to-tony-blair-9339473.html

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2008/mar/19/iraq

With such a disastrous history of killing our soldiers and killing civilians in Iraq, I would find it unconscionable to vote for them, even without exploring their economic history and the lax regulations that led to the bank bailouts and failure to prosecute the bankers that nearly collapsed our economy...

So having explored the main parties and found it impossible to vote for any of them, what is the best way to send the political establishment an unforgettable message that business as usual cannot carry on? It is to vote for a fourth party and to do so in a united fashion. The policies which are most important when voting are:
Withdrawal from "trade" agreements that cede sovereignty to multi national governmental entities and corporations, such as the European Union and agreements that allow corporations to sue sovereign states over legislation they pass with the consent of the people. I'm for free trade, but not for Monsanto being able to sue the UK government if they pass GMO labelling laws...
UKIP's pledge for a referendum on EU membership is a start in the right direction, as we want our politicians to take orders from we the people not from international organisations.
UKIP also pledge to give the people the power to call a referendum if sufficient petition votes are reached.

These two key policies are what is needed to bring back the legitimate power back to the people. I think the first referendum I personally would sponsor is to introduce the power to recall our mps anytime we like, so then they can no longer promise one thing and do another, now if anyone can suggest another credible party or group of independent MPs that will push through those two critical policies then I am all ears, but until then I will be voting UKIP!

Undoubtedly the other leading parties have made mistakes but I don't think it's any reason to vote for a party who's very policies are intrinsically wrong- not even mistakes, but unethical plans of action. The plan for the abolition of certain human rights laws, for example they don't support gay marriage and plan to make rape within a marriage legal, and therefore impossible to define as rape. They plan to scrap paid maternity leave, privatise the NHS, cancelling the building of much needed housing..... And that's without even getting in to the issues with immigration and the EU.

Better the devil you know that has made mistakes and lied than the devil you know is batshit insane!

This popped on my news feed:
