I have got myself the silver cross sleepover, I know so early, but it was one that both DH and I agreed on, and I liked the big carrycot for when tiny, and it seems really sturdy and easy to push (in the shop) , I managed to get it on Ebay for £250, and it is emaculate. Our budget realistically would have been £400 tops, even if I get the car seat (which I am not sure about yet), I have still come under. I would not have been able to justify spending almost £200 more than the freeway on essentially a moses basket, it is mind boggling...
I can't tell the difference!
I just went on the silver cross website and I can't tell the difference between the sleepover and the freeway!
Is it because it can be used with the stand as moses basket? (you can do the with the freeway too is you buy the stand seperately)
BTW, I don't know if you saw the ventura car seat in the store, but it is great. It gets brilliant reviews for the baby's seating position, even from birth. Plus it clicks onto the base really easily too  And it is supposed to be from birth -> 12 months (obviously that would depend on the length of the baby's legs though).
I guess if you can afford it then why not spend it .... However, we are on a tight budget and I have got a nearly new Mothercare car seat and pram/buggy from freecycle for free. I have also looked on ebay too but luckily I got mine for free with loads of extras too.
I think some of the prices are shocking, I really do. And I don't think the argument "what's better than spending your money on your baby?" actually holds any water, because you aren't spending money on the baby, you're just buying "stuff". How many people do you see on here who are on their 2nd, 3rd, 4th pram?!
Your baby needs something secure and comfortable, and you need something practical that can fit into your car (if you drive). That's all. The brand doesn't matter, the colour doesn't matter, the price tag doesn't matter.
Half of the people I know who have really expensive prams bought them for the same reason that they bought designer handbags, because they're showing offIt is just how some people live. Personally I find it really embarrassing to watch them.
You see the same on here, the ones who want the designer prams are the same ones who want the designer nappy bagsComplete waste of money IMO.
Sure, I can afford £1000+ for a pram, but do I think it is justified? Not a chance.
Same with spending more than £300 on a cot, what is the point? Or kitting out the nursery in baby sized furniture which will only last a couple of years before the hanging rails are too short. Why would you waste all that money?!
There are far more valuable ways to spend your money than overpriced baby kit, if you really want to invest in the child put the money into savings for it's education.
It is obviously a personal choice where you have to balance what you can afford to spend versus what you think the product is actually worth. If you have a fixed budget you decide where the money will be best spent, for me that means saving on the travel system so I can buy an Angelcare monitor.
I think it is one story of the pram is amazing quality and gets wonderful reviews, but quite another if it just looks nice and you want it because it is the most popular or because famous people have it!

It doesn't really matter that she put a disclaimer at the endImplying that I don't care about my childs education or something because I bought an expensive pram is ridiculous.
I havent the frikken foggiest, I've only had it out once and its got a digital gauge on the handles, will have a look and update!

The sleepover has the carrycot lining and mattress and moses basket stand, but yeah, they are essentially the same.
I'm not sure about the car seat as one of the reasons I opted for the sleepover is because of the cot, I cringe when suspecting that babies have been in their car seats for hours (just my own opinion, not one set out to cause a debate), and am not sure whether I will justify the use of the 'travel system' however, have not done that much searching for the reviews tbh and I was impressed with the size of it when I was able to see it from where we got the pram, in the shops it always has the hood and foot muff on and looks tiny... am leaving the car seat shopping for a little while longer!!![]()

I found that entire post VERY rude and judgemental.
Hi Ladies, I really hope no one finds me offensive. I was only started this thread yesterday to get some opinions on a pram as its my first baby im like a rabbit in the headlights no idea what im doing. It looks like I will have to spend more as blah rightly told me yesterday I need to test the prams out & I did that today, I looked like a kid in a toy shop lol. I hope I havent upset anyone...or maybe Im just being paranoid..pregnancy hormones..![]()
