How true do you think this is? I know a lot of people swear by this method.

How tall is your LO and how tall do you think they will be fully grown?

The reason I am asking all these questions is that I just measured my LO. She is nearly 3 foot tall and not even 18 months old yet!

Do you think I am going to end up with a 7 foot tall child???

No way to tell for sure hun- our Pediatrician told us a few methods of figuring out the "predicted" height- like average of Mom/Dad... or like you said, double age 2 height. But it's all a guestimate. My friends LO was almost 3ft at 2yrs too- and he Dad is 6' 5"- bu her Mom is only 5' 4"- so I doubt she'll be 6feet. Ya never know though... My other friends LO was the size of a 1yr old at 2yrs! So very short. Our doc said our LO will probably end up a little over 5 foot- and I'm 5' 7" but her Dad is only 5' 8"... my hubbies first daughter is 5' 3 1/2" (she's almost 16) and her Mom is my height.

Guess that doesn't really help...

When I was younger it was when you were 3 they said I wouldn't reach 5ft as I was tiny but I'm 5ft 4 so didn't work for me lol

Wow you have a giant! My DD is only just over 3 ft tall and she's coming up 3!

Megan was 3 foot at 2 years and was 85%ile height I believe. She has only gained about 2" + in a year and now a bit above 38"

I am only 5'6" and dad is just under 6'

My brother & his best friend we're the same height at 2 yrs, they were the same height at birth. Now at 19 yrs he's 6'6" & she's only 5'2"

Omar was at the 98th percentile from 6-14 months, he was big & tall. He was 81 cms at 1 yr. Now at 3 yrs he's 97 cms only. He's average. I don't expect him to be tall, I'm 5'2.5" & DH is 6'

Ya know... my hubby and I kept my SD's growth chart when we moved (he copied onto a paper so we had it for keepsake)- I should look at it and see if it worked for her Just for giggles. Since she's 15 now and won't be growing any taller... she's been set for a couple years now.

I am only 5ft 2 and oh is 5ft 9 so i think kids will be inbetween that

I know she will be what she will be - not like I can put a brick on her head lol!

Hopefully she is just growing quickly and will slow down or stop growing before other kids do.

I looked in her red book and she is off the chart for her height over the 99.8 centile.
Maybe she will be a supermodel!!!

My mum did it with all of us - although it was double your height at age 2 back then. It did work with us all (4 of us). It's not exact obviously but it can generally be right to within an inch or 2.
At 2 my son was 3ft 1 1/2in and my daughter was 2ft 8 1/4in. This would put them at around 6ft 3in and 5ft 4in. I would say that this could be quite likely as OH is 6ft 1in and comes from a family of taller than average people, and i am 5ft 1 1/4in.

My daughter is pretty tall an she's only 18 months, everyone who see's her thinks she 2 years old an get surprised when i say no, she's only 18 months old

DH and i have long legs an so does LO, im 5'4ft and DH is 5'10ft - his dad an brother are bout 6ft each and im the tallest out of my mum an 2 sisters... i think LO will probably be round my height.

I was told double their height on their 2nd birthday. I don't know how true it is but my eldest I am sure will be over 6 foot. and at his 2nd birthday he was 3foot 2inches. my others are on the taller side of average when amongst their peers but I didn't bother to measure them at their birthday.
I've also been told that their height will be between their parents heights but don't the truth of that, as I know so many people taller than both their parents.

This was around when I was little and it was about right for me '5'2 my Sis 5'4 and brother 6'2 - my brother was a real short ass too until 16 x

Based on this theory both my boys will be 5'10 which is their dads height x

I also heard that you double their height at age 2, not 2.5. My DD1 was 35 inches at 2, so she's predicted to be 5'10" using that formula - I think that's probably right as I am 5'7" and DH is 6'7". My mom didn't know how tall I was at 2, but my DH's mom used this prediction and it was pretty accurate. DH was predicted to be 6'6" and he ended up 6'7", and his sister was predicted 6' and that's what she ended up. I think it's an accurate rule-of-thumb, give or take a couple of inches.
