Epicanthic fold..

Does anyone elses LO have this? Its apparently rare and most common in Asians and People with Downs syndrome and foetal alcohol syndrome..none apply to my LO..yet he has the folds. His Dad does too, we saw a consultant the other day who said that Kids that 'shouldnt' have the fold grow out of it when the nasal bone grows and was amazed to discover that OH has a pronounced nose (read big lol) and still has his so said LO may keep his forever..so would like to know of any others that have it..

Mine don't have it but Dh does, I think they are lovely though! Noah does have the almond shaped eyes like DH but no folds what a lovely lo you have! xxx

is it the upper eye lid or the lower lid because ollie's lower lid has a fold type thing but not on his upper lid...i just thought this was the shape of his eyes xx

Wow Kitty, Im amazed to have found another growned up with it lol, the consultant we saw said he was gutted my OH wasnt there so he could have a look at his lol..
Jakes is the upper lid Bump_wanted..i think lol..but it also kinda looks like its either as the way it is..think you can see what i mean..it does look worse than his Dads atm as he has no bridge to his nose at all atm, his nose is just a little dollop stuck on lol

no idea what you're talking bout and dont see anything on his eyes but just wanted to say hes one of the cutest babies ive ever seen!!

Lol he is so gorgeous! You need to take him baby modelling lol!

My dh's dad and both brothers have it to, so its obviously a genetic thing for them xxx

Omar has it, both lids We'r born like this (my family side) then it starts to dissapear as the eyes grows wider. They wanted to run a chromosome test when Omar was born for down syndrom & they refused to show him to me after my CS as they wanted to figure out if there is sth wrong because of his eyes shape. the paediatrician who examined him the next day wasnt convinced & he ran several features tests & measurements

Omar has it, both lids We'r born like this (my family side) then it starts to dissapear as the eyes grows wider. They wanted to run a chromosome test when Omar was born for down syndrom & they refused to show him to me after my CS as they wanted to figure out if there is sth wrong because of his eyes shape. the paediatrician who examined him the next day wasnt convinced & he ran several features tests & measurements

Really, noone mentioned it to us at birth..it was only the other day when we had a eye consultant appointment (poor sausage has ingrowing eyelashes at the bottom that tickle his eye..i kindly gave him that lol) when the consulatant mentioned the fold and gave them a name..i just though that OH had quirky eyes that had passed on to DS until then..so i rang OH and told him, by the time i got home he had googled it and told me how rare it is and said that it sometimes goes hand in hand with chromosome problems..which worried me but then i realised that DS is fine and i was worrying for nothing lol..i have tried to do a close up of the ones Jake has but he kept trying to close his eyes when i took the pic lol

So has yours gone now then? I think i would quite like Jacob to keep his, just cause its the only bit of him that looks like his dad so i think OH is pretty chuffed that Jacob has them lol x

have just double checked Noah's eyes and he has them aswell! Lol I notice nothing! His aren't as pronouced as Dh's eyes but beautiful all the same xxx

Findlay has them, we were told about them at his opthamology appt as we thought he was squinting but he's not it is just that his folds are to the extent that his eyes 'disappear' if he looks to the side. Pretty much all young babies grow out of them we were told.

I don't know if Findlay will grow out of his through as he is 16 months old and they are still there, neither me or my OH have them and he does have a chromosome abnormality so with him it could well be a feature of this..

I & one of my brothers still have a tiny fold but my other 2 brothers dont have it anymore.

I like it when babies have those folds as they look like babies for a longer time

Ur LO is sooo handsome & cute bless him. Omar's lower eye lashes just started to grow outward. I posted sth similar long time back but I didnt knw what the folds r called as I was also worried about his lower eye lashes going into his eyes.

Ahhh right, kaydens eyes were like this when he was born. Do you mean the skin in the corners? If that is what you mean people used to ask me if he was half chinese but he doesn't have it now at all xx
