I need to go into hospital in 10 days and have suddenly realsied I need a stash of EBM!!I have 3 5oz bags in the freezer. I shouldn't really need more than that, as Oliver is coming with me and I will feed him just before surgery, then hubby will take him away. It should be time to play, have tea and then a milk supper feed, by then.
But anyway, just in case I have to stay in overnight, I should prepare. I expressed this morning like I always used to (I haven't for about 2 months now). It was a complete disiaster!! Oliver was far too interested in the pump for me to do it while he was feeding, so had to wait until after. In the end, I managed to just about squeeze 3oz out. I'm gutted! I used to get 7-9oz!!!
Do I need to perservere and my boobs will respond? Or is this is now? Will I have to keep gong and eventually harvest anough for a feed?!!!
I'm a little concerned too, as I was going to start expressing again at the end of the month, to get a stash together for going back to work. I do hope it gets better, or we're stuffed!!!

I have found that it's difficult to get more than that at a time once baby is eating solids etc. Your best bet would be to pump often throughout the day and cool each pumping down seperately then add them all into one bottle. Don't be tempted to add the warm freshly expressed milk into the cool previosly expressed milk as this will encourage bacteria to thrive.

Express 1st thing in the morning before you feed him as this is when you may find it easier....I do anyway:happydance:

I hope you're ok:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

I stopped bothering for this reason Kat. You might have to fit some pumping sessions into you day for a while and just keep gathering the little bits together :)

I have found the same I pump every morning as Evie has to vitimans and iron in milk everyday and I now struggle to get 3 oz used to get 6or7 and I have not never stopped pumping it also take much longer now as well
