am i silly?

Someone is thinking of getting rid of their big fish tank - am I silly to consider buying it off them and buy some fishes?

or should just get the idea out of my head and move on lol

We went to Pets at Home this weekend to get some cat food and our LO was transfixed by the fish!

I loved my fish tanks! I had a tropical and a marine tank. My red crab used to escape n Id find him being stalked by the cats :haha: Wish I still had the room for then :(

I love my fish, it's so tranquil and beautiful! But it does cost and does take time, sometimes it takes very little work or money, then they get a disease and it does.

Can't see us bing without them though.

We've got a lovely tank. I see your oh said no, but if you ever do get them they arent hard work, don't cost much as the stuff you buy at first lasts ages, and they are great for the kids to look at. I'll say though DON'T buy from pets at home! They all die. When a tank gets diseased they quarantine the one tank... But the filter systems link to all the tanks so the disease actually spreads to allll the fish. They were on watch dog a little while back because they were so bad!! Xx

I second not buying from pets at home.

Sorry this it totally ot but it just reminded me, when we first moved into this house we set up thw tank in the conservatory while we got sorted, somehow the heater wasn't switched on and the fish froze! They were literally all stiff/solid and not moving at all. I put them in a bucket of warmish water and they all barring one slowly came back to life!! Haha it was the strangest thing ever!

I took a fish tank off one of my family members, it did have fish too, Tropical fish. I love it as does my partner. We already have a goldfish tank. They are relaxing to watch and kids are fascinated by them :)

Do it!

We have a 6ft tank, two 4ft tanks, 5ft tank and a 3ft tank. (we also have another 7ft tank currently at his dads as we moved!)

As long as you have a decent filter on a big tank (we use FX5's) they will be fine, dont over stock the tank and use prime to treat the water. Big tanks are often easier to maintain due to water quality. x

We have a tropical fish tank and LO is too small to really notice, but my friends 11 month old loves them and sits and watches them for ages!
