Regardless of the time why would a 5 year old be aloud out unsupervised full stop? It makes no difference to me if its a quiet village or a busy city you don't leave a child that age outside unsupervised@! That being said, the story is horrifying and I really hope she is found safe.

Oh gosh i'm so torn with this story... its heartbreaking and i really hope shes found safe and well..
I absolutely wouldn't let my child play out alone at that time, actually at anytime!! but its not fair to blame the parents as they didn't know that if they let her play out then she'd be abducted and im sure they are 100% blaming themselves right now. All i hope is that she is returned safely and my thoughts and prayers are with her & her family. x

Oh gosh that poor little girl, and regardless of right or wrong her poor parents!! It reminds me of the Sarah Payne abduction back in 2000... I hope to god she is found safe and well, but my heart tells me that will not be the case

This is such a heartbreaking story and I feel so desperately sorry for her parents. No amount of blame anyone places on them will compare to the blame they must place on themselves. They will live with an awful sense of guilt no matter the outcome.

It is tragic when these things happen but that doesn't mean people should live in fear and be blamed for trusting others. They obviously have a sense of security in their community as it seems quite common for young children to be out playing, and I can understand where this sense comes from when looking at the huge community support in the search. I hope to god beautiful April is found safe and well.

i really think blaming the parents is so wrong,i lived in a village on a small cul de sac and i was aloud out around that time occasionally with my friends just riding my bike up and down the street,you cannot live your life scared of everything scared of letting your children out the house its not healthy for you or them,it was like she was roaming the streets at 10pm while he parents were inside drunk!

The anger should be directed at the sick individual who took her! The person who makes parents too scared to let there children play out with there friends.

I cant even bare to think what her parents are going through :'(

Tears in my eyes watching this on the news. The amount of people that came to look for her.. For every paedophile you have a thousand wonderful people who want to help. The words I want to use for this man are not even fit for publication. He was found walking near his van.. in the middle of nowhere. I feel sick as to the reason for that. I just can't even begin to fathom how the parents feel. I hope and pray that my gut feeling is wrong. Please let her be ok.

The police have closed off a 12mile stretch of road and are said to be searching a vehicle there now..

Edit-just been added on her FB page police have found something in the river next to where the vehicle was found, I hope its not her
