They had 96hrs max from when has first arrested (Tuesday) to either charge or release. The re-arrest for suspicion of murder didn't affect the max 96 hours allowed. 96hrs took them to 5pm today.

Samemka, they are probably running so close to the deadline as the CPS are having to go through the evidence as it comes in, in order to make the correct decision.
