Hi, not really sure whether anyone will be able to help as I suppose everyone's appointments/ treatments are different depending on situation.

However, we have our follow up appt with FS tomorrow (eek!). We've been TTC since around April/ May 08. We've seen FS once and had SA (great), bloods (fine), HSG (fine), transvaginal scan (fine as far as I know), swabs for infection (fine).

So we go back for the follow up appointment - what should I expect? Will they say there's no problem so to keep trying? That's what I'm scared of.

I've done loads of research and am convinced my lack of fertile CM is the problem. I dont get past the thin creamy stage (sorry TMI) and definitely don't get EWCM.

I have really regular cycles (28/29 days) and used clearblue digi ov tests this cycle which gave me a smiley face on day 13 so think I must ovulate on day 14. We've always had regular BDing even when we haven't used OV tests so know that in theory we should be covering all the right times (going on the recommendation to BD every other day) and would have thought that in all this time we'd have had a BFP at some point, but we never have

So, sorry for long detailed post, but does anyone know what I should be asking? Thanks in advance. xx

Ask what treatments are available on the NHS (presuming you are UK based) in your area?

Ask for an interpretation of SA as we'd been told by GPs and a FS that my OH's SA was fine when it blatantly wasn't.

Ask for details of your transvaginal scan if you haven't been told.

Write anything down that you want to ask before you go and make notes during the appointment. I've often come out of these appointments feeling so rushed and forgetting stuff because I'd not jotted it down.

Good luck, don't be fobbed off or leave without a plan of where you are going (treatment wise, not a map to the car park ).

You'll be fine and don't forget to let us know how it goes :hugs:

Hi Peekaboo,
Follow up appointment, woooo!!! I really hope it goes ok. Im not sure what they will offer you as all your tests for the both of you have come back ok. Have you thought about what you want to happen next, or are you keeping an open mind and see what they say. As my OH has poor motility we were told we would would need IVF/ICSI, but we knew what our problem was right from the start. Let us know how you get on! xx

If the consultant decide that you fall under the 'unexplained' category, it is likely that he tells you you have to keep on trying. Most NHS policy will state that you must have been trying for 2 or 3 years before being eligible for IUI, IVF.

I would indeed ask clarification of your tests results and whether there are anymore tests you could go through.

In terms of cm, I would ask about your oestrogen results as this is what normally triggers it. Saying that, i don't get it either, I only get a bit wetter, and I still managed to get a bfp using preseed. I have read a few others have too.

Good luck at your appointment.

Thanks ladies.

Clueless, we've already kind of had a break down of OH's SA. I only know the three main figures: count was over 100million, motility was I think about 69% and morphology about 40% (if those figures don't make sense or dont sound right, there is a chance I've got the last two the wrong way round!).

Yes, I will also ask about the transvaginal scan as I havent had any proper info on that yet.

TBH I didnt have much faith in the FS last time we saw her. The main thing she seemed to be concerned about was whether I was taking folic acid?! Yes course I am stupid woman, but that alone is not going to get me pregnant is it!! FX she'll be more helpful this time around.

I god, I hope they don't say there's nothing they can do until two or three years. Well two years isn't that far away but three is! Personally I feel like IUI would be a good option for us as it bypasses the need for EWCM (I've read up a lot on IUI and apparently its a good option for those lacking fertile CM, but who have no other problems). Unfortunately DH seems all treatments as 'treatments' and I'm not sure whether he feels ready to take the treatment route, so we'll see, depending on what FS suggests I guess.

Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh. Feel like what happens in the next few months is going to get decided by FS tomorrow.

Won't get chance to come on here after either as going to visit family straight after so might not be able to update you until Monday. x
