Hey everyone! This thread is aimed to those who either live in California or travel through the state regularly...
The DH and I want to drive from Oregon clear through to Anaheim along Interstate 5 around Christmas. Last time we drove through, in March 2011, we were caught in the snow somewhere around Weed, and the Grapevine was closed completely and we ended up having to stay the night in Bakersfield because we didn't know what we were going to do. So this time, I want to be better prepared.
What I need to know is the geographical locations of the mountain passes along the I5 corridor in California. I don't remember how many there are, but as I plan my route, I am going to try my best to hit them during the daylight hours. I would also like to know how often they close to cars, and any routes around the common closures. I have tried to look these things up, but this stuff is kinda hard to Google. Do you have any tips for me? Please and thank you!!!
