I ask because having changed Olivia from aptamil stage 2 to nurture stage 2 it seemed to be an almost immediate effect?? She had a poo, whihc ok was prob gonna happen anyway, and then fell alseep at 8.30 right through to 5.00 this morning. Then her usualy routine of going back off to sleep and then another bottle at eight went well. Now for the past five days (since swapping her from aptamil stage 1 to aptamil stage 2) she has not gone back to sleep after her 8.00 feed, she's whined and squinnied, and not wanted to be laid down but not wanted to be picked up either. Well not all the time, it would solve some of the problems picking her up but on a good few occasions it did nothing she was still agitated. Seemingly like she was looking for more food, and generally irriatable. This would carry right on until the evening when she would sleep thourgh from nine-five am.

Well changing her over last night and this morning, she woke at five then eight then went back to sleep until ten, just had another bottle, she seems to eat more in the mornings, and is now happily cooing away on the mat, well actually I think she's having a poo.

So sorry I do waffle but basically do you think changing the milk can have such an immediate effect or is it purely coincidence

I hope it's an immediate effect, let me know if she stays better! Jack's on Aptimil and has been having the same problems, if switching works for you we'll be trying it :D good luck x

when logan was younger i had to change his milk several times to find one that suited him, sometime id notice a difference alomost straight away in the first 24 hrs and others it would take a week. hope it all works out for u.x

Let us know how you get on SS, as Im thinking of changing Leo over to a hungry baby milk. I dont think the C&G Comfort is filling him up or agreeing with him.

Great that shes sleeping that long! God, I wish Leo would!!! Hes still on 4-5 oz every 3 hours in the day, he may go an extra half hour/hour through the night.:dohh: Thing is, he takes 15 mins to feed and upto 45 mins to bloody wind!

Jacqui, Leo is still so tiny! it's GOOD that he's going 3 hrs lol. I wouldn't change to hungry baby milk yet, his little tummy will barely be used to getting milk at all! That's just my opinion tho, if he's having problems with it could you ask your HV or GP? Obviously you have older kids but remember he's teeny tiny :)

I found that when I changed to hungry baby (Ally was 12/13ish weeks) it had an immediate affect. When I changed to stage 3 nothing happened and when I changed to good night milk I think it took a good week for it to make a difference.

Jacquie - I am not 100% i have got this the right way around but dd had to go on the c&g comfort and apparently it is thicker than ordinary formula - so it is harder for them to get out of the teet. (double check this but i am pretty sure i am remembering this right!) Maybe Leo will be better with just the normal c&g formula - the No1?
SS let me know how you get on hun. I hve heard off a few people that Aptamil is harder to digest because it is bittier (word???) than the others????
xxx

Thanks hun. I have Leo on dr browns stage 3 teats because of the thicker milk. Maybe Im expecting big things too early and should leave him be for a while longer:dohh:

HOw is he at getting his wind up hun? i used to put some infacol in the milk for dd - she was an absolute nightmare for not getting her wind up - and then as soon as i put her down she would throw up everywhere! So we would have to start again. Nightmare. I think i put her on the dr brown teets that were for cereal in the end hun.
I know what you mean though - i rack my brains trying to think of stuff to make them sleep for longer than 4 hours in the night!! i am wacked!!

OK update ladies:

Today :
5 oz 5 am
sleep
5 oz 8am
sleep
4oz 10 am
awake and happy
alseep 12am - 3.30 pm
5 oz 4pm
sleep
4 oz 5.30 pm
doze 5.30 - 6.00
awake
4 oz 7.30 pm
awake
9pm asleep.

SO she has had a very sleepy day seeing as the last week on aptamil stage 2 she was sleeping for maybe two-three hours the whole day. feeding 3 ox every two hours and generally not happy baby. BUT she was going throught the whole night from 9.30-5AM.

So will she sleep through the night we shall see. She has been generally really happy today and only shouted when she's wanted something, she's fallen asleep once on me as opposed to lying on me all day and half and half on our bed or in cot.

It certainly seems like she agrees with this milk alot better, and the result seems to have occured so quickly, I know it could all be coincidence, I guess a few more days will tell, and we'll know if she still sleeps through and if she's still happy and not constipated or anything else by then.

But for now she's happy and so am I, if she follows her pattern she may wake at twleve and then four or may go thtough to five am again, ooooh. watch this space. lol

P.s. according to the can she should be having approx 5 bottles of 5 oz's in 24 hrs, so if she sleeps through I think we're on track for that as well.

Slept through again until four am! which was really good, we've changed times around a bit today, and she fell alseep at six thirty so not in pj's yet think will be a late 10 o'clock feed.

So it would seem the formula is helping for now, as I said will give it a week or so until i'm 100% sure, lol. Hopefully this is the one!

wow Leo is having around 35 oz in 24 hours...! Hes roughly on track for 4/5 oz every 3 hours.

Is this too much do you think?

it's been my first day of formula today with top ups from me to wean him onto formula....he has had 4oz every 2 hours as well as a 1/2 feed off me this morning, a 15 minute feed off me at lunch and a 1/2 feed at tea time! He had 3oz at about 9.45 - got his wind up really quickly and is now fast asleep. I tried waking him to see if he would have the extra 1oz but he was having none of it. didn't even wake when i changed his bum!! Fingers crossed the bonkers amount of milk he has had today makes him sleep tonight!! xxx

I noticed straight away. I put Lucy on SMA when she first started bottlefeeding and it made her a little bit sick (she wasnt sick at all when I was breastfeeding) but I thought it was just because it was different. Anyway, she started being more and more sick after a feed so I changed her to Aptamil and she was absolutely fine from the first bottle on!

But leo was a big boy wasn't he, so reckon he's prob fine. plus he prob weighs more than Olivia now, just cos he was born bigger.

Olivia has 5 oz around 3 hourly as sometimes it's two others times it's four. But she sleeps through the night, so has four-six bottles in 12 hr slot, if that makes sense.

I just realied jackie, Leo is exactly one month younger than Olivia too hehe!
