Would it be ok to give Ffion formula at room temperature? Or is that a big no? I just thought it would be easier when i'm out instead of buying the ready made cartons.

I have always fed Chloes her bottles at room temperature as she took to them straight away, its so much easier to do it this way cause there is no heating up or anything.

I tried to give her a heated up one the other week as she had abit of a cold etc and she would not take it.

hope this helps x

i also feed using water at room temp.

i always make sure the water is hot enough to kill any bacteria in the powder because they say the powder isnt sterile dont they? then i cool her feed in some cold water and she has it at room temperature its so much easier, but she will take a warm bottle if i offer it.

xx

luisa has all hers at roomp temp

i do sometimes heat her night bottle...

in fact she will take the ready feed cold from the fridge (if id used half a carton already and stored it for next feed)
but she got constipated after 3 cold feeds and i wondered if tht was it?

We do all feeds at room temp - I make up the feeds in advance with boiling water then store them in the fridge then warm up to room temp when needed ( before anyone says anything - I know you are not supposed to make then up in advance!!! - I'm a very naughty mummy)

Room temperature is fine if she'll take it at that temperature. Harry won't even touch his milk unless it's warmed - if I try giving it to him at room temperature, it's almost like i'm trying to give him poison - he's disgusted!

thats how i do it. its how ur meant to do it. i looked a info sheet on the department of health website. just obviously not meant to keep them after a certain time.

feeding her them at room temp is fine, but your meant to put the powder into water thats 70 degrees to kill any bacteria because the powders not sterile

this is the first time i've heard that milk powder isn't sterile.

i know, alys was 7 weeks when i found out but since then all her feeds have been madewith boiling water instead of cooled boiled water

xx

Well I, like many others, years ago always made my bottles up in advance and stored them in the fridge. I would heat them up ie. stand in hot water for several minutes before giving to my son.

Now having my 2nd I will do the same again - but not aware that one shouldn't prepare bottles in advance!!! Anyway it never affected my son nor was he ever ill.

hmm im confused about this now....i didnt want to make each bottle up as i needed it including boiling the kettle etc... i got told i could boil the kettle and then store the boiled water in the bottles and just add the milk powder as and when i wanted throughout the day. But then im added powder to cooled boiled water so it wouldnt kill bacteria in milk powder....confused xx

That's what i've been doing aswel. So i need to warm the water back up before adding the powder?

We were feeding Oliver at room temprature but the formula wasn't mixing properly, the MW told us to warm the bottle slightly and then mix it, it works a treat and is only just off room temp. She says it is fine from room temp so can't see a problem. We boil the water and make up 6 bottles of water at a time and then re heat the water to add the formula when needed. hope this helps, take care :hugs: XX

yep we give our baby his at room temprature and he guzzles down 4-5 ouncers at 8 days old!!!we feed him cow and gate
