apologies if there is any similar threads already.

just need a bit of advice as really dont know what to do. hope it makes sense.

jacob is 5 weeks and currently on c&g milk with avent bottles no 2 teats. he usually takes around 5oz on average every 3 hours. although at the moment his feeding is irratic.
feeding can vary from him taking anything from 3oz up to 5oz and wanting more every 2-4 hours.
one feed he can take 3oz and then want another feed a few hours later or another feed he may take 5oz and want more, then be hungry another few hours later. so we are thinking of putting him on hungry baby. rather than him being on 6oz at 5 weeks.

but he sometimes seems to suffer from colic, especially the last couple of days. may hungry baby be too much for him? if so would c&g comfort be better?

im so confused!! really need to sort something out as he is not settleing at the moment and believe it is his feeding.

thanks x

i am always a big fan of the hungry baby (aptamil) formula, maddi has been on it from 3 weeks and still is. i don't see any harm in trying it honey, also found infacol to really help maddi, used it from 4 days to 4months with every feed (to ease colic) x x

thanks, i have been going to try infacol but it says to use before feeding and i keep forgetting! i always remember when he has had his feed. :dohh:

Are you sure its not just a growth spurt - think they get one at around 6 weeks? It can make their feeding erratic and make them a little more fussy than usual.

I'd add up how much he's having in 24 hrs. Olivia's feed were erratic early on still are sometimes. If he is having the required amount for his age just in varying amounts I'd stick with stage one milk, but if you think milks the problem maybe try a different make?

Olivia did go onto stage 2 milk at about five weeks because she was having 6-7 oz every two hours and was having about 20 extra oz over the 24 hrs than recommended.

Hope you find the answer! Good Luck

i put Abbie on C&G hungry baby, but it made her VERY constipated. took her back off it for a week or so, but the regular stuff still didn't fill her for very long. I changed to SMA gold and she's been fine since. :)

as has been said though, you're right at growth spurt time, so may be worth sticking with the extra feeding for a week or so and see if it evens out again
