Hi everyone, my baby is 3 months old and I've been having problem feeding him. He's having breast milk but mainly on formula ever since he was born. I've been trying to follow the quota as mentioned on the formula tin but he can never reach the quota. It seems like he's drinking less and less every time. Is this normal? According to the tin, he should be drinking 150ml but he can only drink 90ml. He's putting on the weight slowly but not dramatically.

I'm not sure if I should change formula too? He's on NAN H.A, recommended by the hospital when he was first born. Is NAN H.A good? I heard NAN doesn't help baby pack on weight much?

Thanks for the advice everyone.

Are you feeding on demand? That's the best way to give your baby what he needs. The guidelines on the tub are just that - guidelines - not a quota to aim for. If your LO is gaining (however slowly) and having enough wet and dirty nappies and is happy and healthy, that's all great.

I would actually just ignore what it says on the tub. Everybody is different and babies are certainly no exception. The only use I can see for the guidelines on the tub is if you are new to FF and want to know whether to buy one or two tubs for the week!

He wasn't latching on when he was born and was starving even though I thought he was feeding. Because of this, we had to give him top ups and I wasnt getting enough stimulation to produce more milk. Hence, I ended up expressing most of the time to feed him breastmilk with formula.
