HOW MANY PEOPLE WHO HAVE THEIR GALLBLADDER REMOVED DEVELOP PCS?

About 10 to 15% of people who have their gallbladder removed develop PCS.

i think this is what i have :(
just want it sorted i dont like going out anywhere incase i have an attack

Hi ladies :)

I'm glad I found this thread, it's amazing how common gallstones are in pregnancy!

I was diagnosed with them at 16 weeks, like someone said it runs in my family....my sister was diagnosed 6 months after my Nephew was born even though she'd been going to the GP continously!! Luckily because my symptoms were so similar to hers it only took 5 GP appointments until they agreed to an ultrasound!

I've been seeing a consultant who has said they will remove my gall bladder 3-4 months after I give birth. I wasn't aware of the side effects after, but I guess it's a risk I'll have to take.

I'm glad some of you compared it to labour!! The worst attack I had lasted nearly 12 hours with lots of vomiting, passing out, and pure chest and back pain. I just about got through that so fingers crossed labour will be fine!!

I'm actually having a mild attack at the moment....it's not too bad, but it started nearly 5 hours ago and I just want sleep!!

Sorry for the long post.....I'm trying to occupy my mind, so the pain eases off (wishful thinking I know!)

Well i'm having my gall bladder out. He didn't even give me any other options as my ultrasound scan was so bad! He offered to do it in December but i asked to wait till after christmas so early new year it is. Pre op is booked for 2nd Dec and then I should get a date :D

I had massive issues with mine a few years back, god it was agony!
In my case it also caused issues with my liver and in turn lungs as a swollen liver stopped my diaphragm working properly and fluid built up on one lung, but only a certain times of day :dohh: agony.
I didn't have mine out as my homeopath and mctimony chiro managed to help me and by the time I got to see the consultant I was pretty much better!
I lived off apple juice (breaks down the stones) and liquids for about 2 weeks, took a load of codliver oil over that time and avoided animal fats for about 9 months after, and then introduced them VERY slowly.

God the thought of the pain still makes me wince! Hope yours gets sorted ASAP

Good Luck with your Operation.

I developed Gallstones when i was pregnant at 17. I had mine out last Christmas after developing very serious pancreatitis, things weren't looking good at all for awhile.Very Frightening.
Its amazing how common they are,and what a pain they are!

Thanks girls, pre op on Wednesday so should get my date :)

Good luck at your appointment, hope it all gets sorted soon. I've finally got a date to find out what my options are on 15th December, can't wait to get them dealt with, whatever they decide to do! x

Hope you get yours sorted too hun. Pre op went well and waiting for a date now :)

ive got an endoscopy on 16th dec to find out why im still getting pains after having gallbladder removed

Im so glad somebody has written a thread about this! I've been getting the pains since the end of spet but my doctor won't refer me to the hospital. Its the only thing on the web that I can class as the same symptoms I get espesh the pain going through to my back.

He's trying to say I have a stomach ulcer, but its not my stomach thats flipping killing! The next time I'll be taking myself to A&E!

well i had the endoscopy and they found nothing im booked in for an ultrasound now :(

Kimboowee you need to go back and make your Dr listen and refer you for an ultrasound before it gets worse!

Sorry the endoscopy found nothing, hopefully the ultrasound will give you some answers, maybe its a loose stone thats got blocked in a bile duct?

Aaah! Im so happy I found this thread! I have been having these 'attacks' since I was about 34 weeks pregnant and at that point, put it down to awful heartburn, backpain and rib pain! And then after Brandon arrived I put it down to recovering from a c-section but after it continuing to happen at least once a week, I took myself up to a+e and he said that it was afterpains from me having a spinal block! But with it still happening and each time getting worse I took myself to the doctors on Friday and she said I either have gallstones or a stomach ulcer but most likely gallstones as there is a family history! I have an ultrasound booked for January!

Ive also to get blood taken on Wednesday to check that my liver is functioning properly!

I just wish I had went to the doctors sooner as now I will have to wait longer due to the holidays x x x

I've been back since then as he prescribed me penicillin and I had a reaction - He's still not listening though this is the same doctor that told my mum she has gasreonteritus and she had appendisitus! So I've got another 2 weeks of anti biotics to getr through then I'll go back again

I've just gotta wait for a bad attack and go to hospital, I think thats the only way I will get seen to properly!

Hopefully there able to find whats wrong and treat you soon tricky nicky, these doctors are no good!

well i had my ultasound and it was normal!!
she said if there are still stones anywhere they are very hard to find on any scan :(
bumped this thread up for someone too :)

Thats so strange that u are still having the pains!! Is it the exact same pains as gallstone pain?! That must be so annoying! Did they say what the next step for u is?! x x x

ive not had the pains since november but they where exactly the same as the gallstone pain.the ultrasound woman said they could have been gallstones still stuck as they are really hard to find on any scan.
not got follow up till july but fingers crossed i will be ok :)
