I know its gonna be so much healthier for me and in the long run,
and Im really hoping that Il loose weight from cutting out all the sugar and crap from my diet,
But.. its so hard!! I am a serious chocoholic!! I have eaten chocolate the whole of my teenage years, and havent stopped!!
And now.. no chocolate, at all, I have no energy, headaches from the withdrawal of caffine and its driving me mad..

plus I hate needles and dont like pricking my fingers 4 times a day..
Hoping to be induced tho, and thats grreat cause I get to see baby early =]
((hoping he isnt born on the 26th tho!! Our anniversary lol))

It is still early yet - in a few weeks you may be able to figure out how to fit a daily treat into your diet. I found I could eat a chocolate coated ice-cream (magnum) once a day provided my blood sugar level was very low to start with.

You will get to know what you can and can't do soon.

As for induction - don't be too keen! Mine was bloody awful. It takes far far longer, is much more painful and you have a massive risk of something going wrong and needing a section. If I could do it again I would never have an induction!

I am fed up of my GD too. I was diagnosed at about 11 weeks and have to test my bloods 3 times a week 6 times a day!! You will soon learn what raises your blood sugar and what is ok to eat.
You can still have 3 cups of normal tea or 2 of normal coffee per day if you are really struggling with the caffeine, and then just have de-caf the rest of the time.
Water is a great way to feel full and I snack on Mandarins as they are nice a sweet and don't raise my blood sugar.
Also, sugar free jelly is great for a sweet fix. Chocolate is a tough one though- have you tried diabetic chocolate? it isn't great but might help for a quick fix. or low fat hot chocolate?
It is frustrating. I have been testing my blood for ages and i still get high reading sometimes. i have swapped white bread for brown and walk 3 times a day for 20 minutes a time. it is a nightmare, but so worth it in the end to make sure we have a healthy happy little one! on the plus side i have only gained 3kg in the whole 24 weeks of pregnancy so far!!
good luck, and let me know if you need a good rant!!

x

In my last pregnancy I stayed diet controlled and I was nice and slim after delivery. There are up sides. If you stay in control then your baby should not suffer any ill effects of diabetes.

Hope not.. feeling better today, had a nice lunch and so far blood sugars are normal,
i acturly get really excited when it comes up 4.2 or 5.5..
still exhausted and still have headaches but managed to do some cleaning nd washing, brought some sugar free jelly which im going to try later aswel :)
thanks for your replies..
and Levans, your very lucky.. 3kg in 2 weeks is amazing.. haha the diabetic nurse weighed me and i nearly passed out!! I think ive gained 10kg up to now.. :(

You will have gained more than you should if you had gd and didn't know about it. You should lose it now if you stay controlled.
