Yes bentlee thats where I am from :). it is indeed the best and prettiest city in Germany.
We have cosleeper the Fabimax babymax :)
Havent got a changing table yet, i don't like the ikea ones iether really they look a bit collapsible...

Glad Patrick's doing well. :)

We have the Leipold Wickelregal "Nena", which I'd be happy to recommend.

Yeah, far to hilly for bikes here too!!
It's so foggy though today, can't even see the hill on the other side of the vally and it's only 200ms away!.

We didn't get our table from Ikea, we bought this pinolino set from ebay

https://www.babyonlineshop.de/shopa...-Kinderzimmer/Pinolino_Laura_Kinderzimmer.htm

but without the wardrobe!

Yay that's he's almost back up to weight (and what a weight that is ;))

Sarah, I really like your set! I'm actually love white furnitures.

Nice, set. We are not going to have a set as such as we havent got enough space for that :haha:. sooner or later we'll have to decide on the nappy changing table but we'll do that once oh is back again.

Yeah, we dont have much room, The wickelkommode is in the living room and the cot is in our room :P. Hopefully when we move from here we'll have more space :/

Sarah, have you already decided on a name for your girl?

Not yet, I think we are deciding between Holly, Elizabeth(Elizabess as the germans say) and Lily. Although I have two friends here, who Im not close to, that have daughters called Lily :/. But my DH is very keen. Personally I want Holly :P

Back about car seats again. :dohh: So, I was set on the Maxi Cosi Mobi and just about bought it to find out it will be over 300 Euros with tax.. oh man. Now my husband's not into it anymore and I have more convincing to do. We were just looking at some car seats sold here and the Cybex Juno 2012 is top rated by the ADAC so I'm considering it but it's of course forward facing only. Some complained their baby has no room to move in it, which I also don't like the sounds of. The Maxi Cosi Priori SPS also got rated well.
I guess because of this forum I'm overly paranoid in the event of an accident my daughter would have been better off in an extended rear facing seat and I couldn't live with myself with that. :( I just don't want money to play such a huge role but it of course does. What to do, what to do..

I love both Holly and Lily, but I'm not that much into Elisabeth (Elizabess..)

I you looking for one for you big girl or the new born?

Weird call Elizabeth, Ella. Just fyi :D.

I think whatever you choose your baby is going to be very safe. These are all very well tested high end products. There probably isn't one that is the best, there are just a bunch that are really good. It's always hard making these decisions. I felt so lost when I was trying to figure out sleeping arrangements for the baby. What was best etc...everything just contradicts everything else!

I'm looking for one for my big girl Bentlee. Feels strange saying big girl! She's still so little but getting big so fast indeed! For our second we have her big sister's outgrown Maxi Cosi, works out perfectly.

Thanks Sarah, makes me feel a bit better. My thoughts are so jumbled at the moment. I did so much research into car seats then I felt like I needed to start from scratch again. We were just at XXXL to check out some possibilities and that ruled out the Cybex Juno for her. Way too restrictive. I can't picture my daughter comfortably sitting in it because she'd have no way to move her arms about really. We'd rather go for the Maxi Cosi Priori for that reason and the rating is only two points less (1,8 instead of 1,6 for the Cybex). In the end though I think we'll go for the Britax (Römer) First Class Plus. It's rear facing up to 13kg, like her Maxi Cosi babyschale, which didn't make much sense to me before but now I see how it will last longer rear facing. As I've mentioned, her head is about to go over the top of her babyschale. With the Britax she'd be able to sit backwards up to 13kg so that gives her another 4kg without the worry her head will go over the top of course. So, I think this is what we'll do. It unfortunately has no review from the ADAC as it's so new but good costumer ratings in any case. I just want the very best for her. This forum makes me question some decisions I'd otherwise not think so deeply into. My husband's take on it is how much safer can extended rear facers be? What if we're to be hit from behind? How much safer would it be in that case? I guess it's done by statistics in the most common car crash types when the conclusion's made as to which way is safer. If rear facing is really so much safer then I believe Germany would sell these over 13kg seats but they don't (with exception to the Recaro Polaric, like I've mentioned, which got poor ratings). Sorry for the novel. Just needed to get that out!

And Sarah, I like Elizabeth and Holly best of your choices! :)

Well rearfacing is 5 times safer, and even when hit from behind it is still safer,.
Well thats all I know to the subject.

I made a point that our daughter won't have a name with 'th' in it, (although elisabeth is also German but would be pronounced as eleezabet) my oh suggested 'Heather but I said right away no way :haha: shed be a hezzer otherwise.
She is going to be called 'Emilie' in case I haven't said so yet :).

I kind of agree that you don't know how you will be hit, and god, you probably wont have an accident or anything where any of this will actually come into play :), it's important to be prepared and make a decision though. I find it so frustrating, as you just want someone to say "this one!" and it to actually be the right answer....:/

Sometimes I find Germany is a bit slow at getting things from other countries. Like, they are very into German research and german products. And anything that is new to them from outside germany they kind of resist or at least just don't hear about for a lot longer than you'd expect. If I talk about cloth nappies here, everyone thinks I mean the old flats our mothers boiled on the stove... :dohh:

I love Emilie (I have a wow char called Emilie! O_O), but my SIL is called Emily so it'd be a bit weird! lol. Yeah that's why she'd be Ella here, everyone can say it :D

I love the name Emilie, it's really beautiful. Great choice!

Yes, I just can't come to a conclusion on this, and for weeks now, it's pathetic nearly. Tonight when Aurora's in bed I'm going to sit down and research it all without any biased opinions. I want to figure out, okay if they're not sold in Germany, then why. I trust German safety standards and I tend to find them quite strict actually so I can't imagine if extended rear facers are really 5x safer or whatever the case is, why they wouldn't make them standard. This is what makes little sense to me. I don't believe Germany's in any way behind but that's just my opinion. :)

It's funny you say that about cloth diapers. I first heard of them when I was an au pair here in 2007. The mom used them for her son! I'll admit, I thought she was a nut and that it's disgusting she's putting them in the washing machine then.

Funny is, that I thought the same way about things in the US  It probably all depends on what you're used to.

hm The test site of the ADAC unfortunately doesnt have a category for rear facing vs forwardfacing but I think the stftung warentest site has it(but it costs money to access the results :( )I correct myself you can see under more options the reafacers. I have just seen that ergonomics and handling seems to be quite an important criteria though. While it is important that people install a sseat in the car correctly I don't think it should be get such a high rating within overall rating .
this one for example: https://www.adac.de/infotestrat/tests/kindersicherung/kindersitz-test/detail.aspx?KisiID=148&nc=True
a good rating for security and finish, but an 'okay' for handling and all it gets is an 'okay' rating . :/
Oh You could also say that german tend to be more on the eco-organic path with cloth nappies too. even if you dont take the flats and prefold ones 90% of German cloth nappies are just plain beige or have some prints that remind me of children's band aid. I think this is a bit of a pity, meaning you need to import the pretty ones(or rather pay the higher price they have since they are imported)
