im not sure if its kicks or punches but she has taken a likingto m bladder and cervix i barely feel anything higher then my belly button

Baby Lena is trying to beat up her mummy by the sounds of it!

I know, where's this baby??

Well I said today would be it, so far nothing :( I guess I'll be making that dr's appointment tomorrow :/

Just had a sweep, it was horrible, really really painful :( But she said she thinks I'll probably go into labour tonight, so at least maybe it was worth it?

What's a sweep? I hear this all the time on B&B but don't think I've ever gotten one.

Where they insert fingers into your slightly open cervix and then pull away the membranes. It's supposed to help start labour and open the cervix more.
I just feel like I have my period now. Achey, tired, shakey, light bleeding for a while (brown mostly). Hopefully I get more contractions soon....

Is that only done when you go past the due date?

I'm thinking about you now! :flow:

Mostly yes, I've heard some ladies get it earlier, but I think most people only offer it after your DD. I think it can really start labour, so they probably save it :) .

Does the midwife only do this or gynecologists too? I didn't have much to do with my midwife until the actual day of birth. Before that I just met her twice to ask questions and such.

Haha, me too!
A dr at the hospital did it. I'd never met her before :P . I'm sure your OB would do it too.

Good to know, thanks! If I can remember correctly they have you come in to the hospital every other day once your due date comes around? Is your gynecologist going to deliver your baby?

No, :/ kind of a shame really, I really like him. But here it's just the staff at the hospital. Still pretty worried about the english thing. Only met one midwife there that talks english to me :( . Dr did of course.
Yeah, every other day you get a CTG, normally with my OB, but it's the weekend. I was supposed to have it yesterday but they had bazillions of women come in in labour :(. I'm hoping the rooms/ward arent too busy when Im there!

Aw, that's too bad, but at least the doctor speaks English. I chose the hospital, frauenklinik, whatever pretty much only because my doctor works with them and I wanted him to deliver my daughter. Will be doing the same this time although there were some things I didn't like about it but all-in-all can't complain. The maximum you'll share a room with is 2 other women, but it could be different at your hospital, maybe smaller rooms? I felt so uncomfortable sharing a room. The lady next to me was scheduled for a c-section early that morning and I'd only just had my daughter. I was trying to breastfeed and she kept crying and the lady was acting all disturbed so I just left and went in the baby room. There was a little lounge to breastfeed but the nurses kept looking at me all awkwardly and instead of trying to help an obviously struggling new mama they mainly ignored me. :( So dreading it this time.. hoping we can leave right after she's checked out after the birth and I'm back on my feet. About English, don't worry so much. I spoke some weird language with the nurses, no idea. I guess it was German. I was in a weird, drunkish state afterward. You won't be worrying about it. :)

I don't think my dr delivers anymore :( He used to work in a hospital where there were a lot of US military wives, so his english is really good.

Yeah, it's two people per room here. If the rooms arent full your DH can sleep in the other bed. But I think it's going to be full over the next few days :'(

Yeah, I hope it's not too weird :/ I can imagine it could be awkward even just with the whole language thing!!! Let alone everything else that's going on.

Yeah, I'm wondering if it's going to be like that for me... I hope they do help me some, like you im wondering about a lactation consultant. I just want it to work. I can imagine they are going to just do things with my baby without asking me because of the language thing. So I'm going to not really let her out of my sight. Otherwise I bet they'll feed her from a bottle etc...

I just don't know how I'll deal with it if they're being supportive during labour but in german, I might just get pissed off and yell at them!!!

That's how it is at the frauenklinik, men can't spend the night unless there's room or unless you pay a 100ish€ fee for a private room. :( Most women were trying to leave around the time I came in since it was right before Christmas but it was still too full for him to stay. I hated that. We paid for it privately the last night because I couldn't take it.

It shouldn't be a problem with the lactation consultant. I had the luck the one working at the frauenklinik was away (with no substitute apparently..) until the week after and I couldn't wait that long for help to simply feed my baby so one of the nurses suggested I give her a bottle because she was so uneasy and shaking even, probably from hunger, and I did and so it went. I also got no help from the hebamme that came to our apartment. The one in the hospital was awesome but she said we're too far so we had to have a different one..

Just let the staff all know from the start KEINE FLASCHEN BITTE, something like that should do. :) I don't think they're even allowed to give a bottle without your consent.

It'll be just fine though, of course everything won't go perfectly, but as long as your little one's healthy that's what matters most after all of course.
