anyone know when you can get pregnant after coming off microgynon??

Saw 31 people have read and you've had no reply. I was on cilest and then copper coil. It's my first month without anything. Can't comment specifically on micro as never used it but my understanding with any bcp is it needs to come out of your system. I've known people who've been on it come off and fallen first cycle and others who've tried for a year or more with no luck. Everyones different. Relax and enjoy being "free" andnit will happen. i only took microgynon for 10 months and went off it in october last year, not trying or preventing for 4 months (i heard people need to get hormones out of body completely - good to have rest of 3 months for true periods to go back to normal and less chance of miscarriage as hormones are gone, remember the 1st period isnt a period..its a withdrawal bleed)

now i been trying only been a month...healthy couples can take upto 6-12 months to conceive....

HI There,

I was on microgynon some years ago, but haven't been on BCP for more than 7 years now. I would certainly hope that having taken microgynon in the past that it won't have an effect on my ability to conceive in the future, but it is worth noting that in the intervening 7 years since coming off bcp altogether, I have regrettably had quite a lot of unprotected intercourse, but not ONCE had any scares of any sort. Maybe I'm too sensible or maybe ... ? Don't want to think about the bad side!!

Not really an answer, but I'm sure there are lots of women out there unlike us who have been on microgynon and have gone on to have babies!

Everybody is different. On average it takes three to five months for your body to regulate itself again. Then after that it takes your average couple five months to concieve. But then there are those cases that throw everything out the window. lol

I currently have been off bcp since january and im pretty sure all the hormones have left my body, so now Im starting to feel real hopeful that a will soon become a reality for me

I started taking microgynon at age 15 to ease my hurrendous period pain which would induce vomiting. I came off the pill 16 months ago (I am now 27) and I have yet to conceive. My periods were fairly quick to regulate after I stopped taking BCP and I ovulated without fail every month.

Interestingly enough this is the only af I have had which has given me the same period pains that I used to experience so I am unsure as to what this means but I'll certainly be going to the doctors to ask about possible endo...So I may have an underlying reason affecting my chances or it could be nothing.

That's my experience however but as said before everyone is different so I hope it doesn't take as long for you! Best of luck

I finished taking microgynon a few weeks ago after finishing a pack! I'm waiting for my first proper period! I'm hoping to get pregnant in august but we will see! X

Hello i'm new here and ttc #1, I was on it from the age of 14 ( due to tragic period pains ) and came off it around 5 month ago ( now 21 ) so almost 7 years - as we were WTT and now TTC, my cycles were irratic as one month my cycle was 50 days! and another 37 days, this month I was 30/32 day cycle which is more or less normal for me since my mums are 32 days also. I tend to also worry alot and that causes my cycles to be longer. My doctor told me havign been on it 7 years there maybe a 3 - 12 month period where I might not be as fertile but because i'm young i shouldn't need to worry ( but of course I do! )

I have been on it since 14 due to period pain. I stopped taking it and it then took two years, a miscarriage and then another 3 months to get pregnant. I'm wtt #2 but refuse to go back on the pill as i had so many problems getting off it last time. Good luck, hope it happens faster for you x

I came off microgynon about August/September last year and been trying since January... no luck as of yet but hoping that this may be my month *fingers crossed*

I think it's best to wait a few month to make sure all of the hormones are completed out of your body before ttc x

Hello

I had taken microgynon for 12 years without a break. My doctor said everyone is different you could get pregnant the first cycle or it may take 2 years you never know.
I stopped taking Microgynon in August, had my withdrawl bleed then my first cycle was 31 days long. 2nd cycle was 30 days 3rd cycle was 31 days and 4th cycle never came. Got my BFP on new years eve.
We were not trying hard either just stopped taking the pill.
