Do any of you make ginger bread houses for christmas and when do you make them.

I've not done them before, but I want to. I might get a pack to make it this year, then next year i'll be able to do it from scratch x

I always make gingerbread, but never tried a house. Would like to, but not sure how long it would keep as it wouldn't fit in any of my tins! Also, I like my gingerbread quite soft, so not sure it'll work. Have made gingerbread Christmas trees, though, which are really simple, but look pretty good.

I brought a cheap diy gingerbread house in Aldi for our elf to start and the boys to finish, no idea how it will turn out x

We made one about 5 days before christmas, but the walls started going soft and the poor house looked as though it has subsidence lol, there quite easy to make you can print templates off the internet, just make ginger bread as normal, then cut round the templates to make the sides and roof, stick together with icing and decorate to your hearts content, my husband always stands a gingerbread man outside the house with malteser boobies, which the kids find hilarious

Hate ginger :( but love the look of those houses....anyone tried it with something like shortbread? Ohhhh now one of those I would happily scoff!

I've tried twice. Once two years ago, and the other day. FAIL! They fall apart every time!

We ( me, oh and my brother) made one the christmas I was pregnant with lo. It was so much fun to make. Ww didnt use templates I just cut the shapes out. We had it at home for a few days but with all the spare mix we had, we made extra biscuits to eat and the house went to my nans for everyone to eat. I tried a cheap kit last year and it fell apart within hours. Might do one again this year

Emily always does one of the kit ones but as yet we are to eat it,it is so pretty it always ends up in the in :dohh:

Aldi have a ready made one for £5.99 - think I'll get that and dust some icing sugar over it so I can claim it was homemade :haha:

I wish I could but there's no way I am artistic or creative enough x

I really wanna make one this year :D me and oh saw a kit in Lakeland were gonna buy xx

Was going to get one but think I'll wait until Colin is older.

There's a really cheap set in wilkos with the metal template cutters and other Xmas cutters/icing equipment. Was umming and arring but not got it yet.

I bought a kit from ikea a few weeks ago. They looked amazing the ones people have done and are on display there. Don't know how mine will turn out!!

I would love to make one but noone in my house likes gingerbread so it would just be a waste :(

We make gingerbread men every year which are always lovely. We bought a house hit one year and it was rubbish! It fell apart :(
I am going to have another go this year- I'm going to buy a kit I think and hope for the best! :D I think I saw a kit in Sainsburys for a fiver! :D
