Good old Justin Bieber

I probably know as I was there a lot as a child and in Germany and Holland a lot so we would have went sigh seeing. I was in her house a few times to.

you know whats worse.....most of his fans didnt know who Anne Frank was. And some thought she was bullying him.

His fanbase are seriously vile. They sicken me at times.

I think that comment is OTT and uncalled for. My 11 year old cousin is a Justin Bieber fan, and I can assure you she is not vile and if you met her she wouldnt sicken you. She is a great kid, who loves her dolls, loves her barbies, is lead singer in the church choir and loves Justin Bieber.

Going back 13-14 years I loved the Backsteet Boys, even had a poster of Nick Carter on my wall. And I had no idea who Anne frank was. It doesnt mean anything. Thanks to my dads job I lived in 10 different countries, speak 5 languages, went to the best school in Rome (studied alongside the president's granddaughter, Paganini's son, Ciciolina's daughter to name a few), went to medical school at 17, became a doctor at 22 and like to think I'm good at my job. I didnt take history at school because it didnt interest me and I only found out who Anne Frank was in my late teens. Possibly even more embarassingly I didnt know who Nelson Mandela was until my early twenties  Its embarrassing but it doesnt reflect on my intelligence, my school or how well I do my job. Sometimes things just slip us by.

Someone's husband in the 1st trimester forum didnt know women used toilet paper when they peed until she got pregnant.

Oh and I eventually grew out of my Backstreet Boys phase. Thats all it was a phase which is normal for young teens. In 15 years time Justin Bieber will have faded into the background, and his current fanbase will look back on it and think "i cant believe how much i loved Justin Biber. I was such a silly kid".

Yeah tbh I don't really judge the fans who don't know who Anne frank is because, honestly, most 12 years olds are pretty self-absorbed and not really fountains of knowledge. His fanbase are essentially children, I agree with the PP that one day they will probably grow up and think 'oh god I was embarrassing back then', we are all just lucky that social networking didn't exist when we were tweens, oh god I was obsessed with Courtney love so I dread to think

OMG. I don't mean each and every fan is vile. My own sister is one. But a vast majority of them, who hound anyone who doesnt like him, send tweets telling people to kill themselves, hound every woman hes linked with, etc. they are bullies and vile with it.
I've read first hand some of the hate they send and its shocking.
I don't think they are vile for not knowing who Anne Frank is. I think some of them are vile for their internet behaviour.

Where some of them not cutting themselves a while ago for him?

Where some of them not cutting themselves a while ago for him?

Yep.
Some genius (and just so nobody gets the wrong impression i mean this sarcastically) on 4chan tricked them into thinking "cut4bieber" was a thing and a lot of them actually did it.

I remember liking take that and boyzone as a teen but never went on like this. How times have changed.

The only "boy bands" that existed when I was a tween/teen involved lots of ratted out hair and makeup.

I wasn't aware so many people have no clue who Anne Frank was; I learned in school. I guess I assumed she was still on the curriculum.

No offence, but not knowing who Nelson Mandela until your twenties reflects on the state of your general knowledge, if not intelligence. If you specialised at 17 it's no wonder though - at least it probably means you're a pretty good doctor:thumbup:

Maybe it depends what country you're from, but I grew up in England and Anne Frank's story and diary were a staple for early secondary English education and used as a source in history lessons.

I'm sure she didnt mean the whole Justin bieber fan base are vile.... But honestly SOME of them are down right crazy doing things like cutting their arms for him to show their love for him and trying to say that anne frank is bullying him.

I mean I was a massive fan of the boy band blue growing up but I don't think I stooped as low as that.

His fanbase ARE awful, obviously there are normal fans but the ones on twitter are really weird people - they often have nasty 'twitter rivalries' with other fanbases and make up fan suicide stories for retweets. I follow Drake Bell on twitter and Bieb fans are always telling him to go kill himself. It's fucked up stuff!

Ha ha i thought i was the only Courtney Love fan out there!!

Yes I'm the first to admit that my general knowledge in my teens wasnt great. But then I grew up and caught up (I dated a history student for 5 years which probably helped), and now with my experience from having lived in 10 different countries and my new found general knowledge, i think i know more about the world than a lot of people. But thats my point. Some people have said its scary these people who dont know who Anne Frank is are going to be in high flying jobs one day, but to me i dont think thats a good measure of their capabilities. I dont think it reflects on intelligence, as i see intelligence as the ability to learn

Yes, not knowing who Anne Frank is (or anyone for that matter) is not a reflection of intelligence. If you've never been told something, how on earth could you possibly expected to know?

I'm just shocked because I was under the (incorrect) assumption that she was still being mentioned in school, so these Beliebers not knowing made them sound like morons. But I guess schools can't teach everything! There are a zillion Diary of Anne Frank movie versions out there, I'm just surprised no one thought to introduce their kids to her. Nothing wrong with that, just surprised!

Did anyone see the article with an interview of Anne Frank's step sister?

She defended him and said that Anne probably would have been a beliber. I'm on my phone and for the life of me have no idea to copy/paste links.

Thought it was an interesting read, tho I'm unsure if she meant if Anne was younger or if she had survived.

Wait, what? This stepsister never would even have known Anne Frank! Anne's father met and married Eva's mother years after the war. Pretty nervy to for her to suggest who Anne would have been a fan of. Kind insulting, I would think?

She justified it by saying like all young girls Anne was infatuated with movie stars and singers.

I might have got her context wrong, if you google I think you can find the link.

I think whether or not Anne Frank would have been a Justin Bieber fan is irrelevant. I mean, yeah, she was a teenager and liked celebrities. I still don't see why that gives the Biebs and excuse to act like an idiot at a somber historical site.

Sorry, my comment wasn't directed at you, but the step sister. I know you're just the messenger
