Goverment confirms scrapping NHS direct.

Also when you ring NHS direct and a nurse says she has to look it up, she is just double checking her knowledge and making sure no mistakes are made
xx

There is an online NHS database service for medical practitioners to research things that are new to them. It flows a process of clinical diagnosis. As above I doubt the Internet meant a good old google. :dohh:

The biggest issue is the replacement of trained nursing staff with untrained call centre staff. Yeah great, it means they have a job. Whoopee-doo...that's no good to me when I need to know whether the rash on my LO's body is something I need to be concerned about or not!!

Who cares whether it was tories or labour who 'ruined' the NHS. Surely the most important thing is that we dont lose it and that we fight for it?!

Oh my God, really? As much as I hate the Tories, I thought this coalition was going fairly well but this is just stupid...

Winegums do you ever visit a doctor or do you just pop to the library and read a medical book and fix yourself?

i don't often go to the doctor anymore as it's gone so downhill since i was younger lol but i don't often have the need. if i really need to then i'll go. why?

Because you seem to think that anyone who reads a medical text can understand and appropriately apply it.

The news has almost exclusively been right wing always. Paper or tv. The change was starkly obvious the day after the Tories did a deal with Murdoch that would see the BBC in jeopardy if they got in power. Lol

Totally contradictory. One minute you're saying that the news has always been right wing,. Next you're saying ther was a "change" when the Tories got in.

The BBC has, for the last 15 years, been exclusively left wing. fact. Gawd knows what it is know as I refuse to watch it.

Lol how much did you not understand what I said? The BBC has not been left wing for 15 years. If you don't even watch it then what is your evidence for saying this? The main political correspondent is the brother of a high level Tory politician. The reporting has always been skewed to the right. What I said was that BEFORE the election the Tories made a deal with Murdoch (as evidenced by the switch to the right the Sun made). A deal with Sky naturally puts the BBC at risk as evidenced by the Culture Minister's current plans to reduce the BBC and the total monopoly Sky has over the media in the UK. The switch I mentioned was to the left. Even John Humphreys started trying to give a bit of a hard time to the Tories, something previously unheard of.

Thanks PP, I didn't even realise this section had been created! *goes to scout around*

 BBC? Left wing? I think you need to brush up on either your politics or your BBC knowledge. Sorry, but no way.

why do i recall about 2 or 3 years ago in the news lots of stories about 'why labour has failed the NHS'

Because you read the Times and the Mail?

Oh perlease...low. Very low.

She could easily retort that you're a Guardian reader which would equally be as low.

Note to self - Tories can't take a joke.

Not to self- Labour is a joke:haha::haha:

Labour created the NHS. Everytime they're in power the Tories do everything they can to destroy it because they believe that people who can afford to pay should be treated first. Labour have made mistakes as every party does, too many targets though some targets have been fab such ad cutting waiting lists especially for cancer treatment. There are many poor elements of the NHS that predate Labour such as the removal if dental services.

I've yet to meet a single person who works in the NHS who is glad the Tories are in and happy with what they're doing.

My mums a nurse a voted for them

On the topic of there not being any nursing jobs avaliable, its wrong my mum has just got a new job after moving to a different area of the country

Who said I'm Tory?

Still waiting on why you assume the above... or do you only resort to such refererences for anyone not of the Labour variety?

I assume you mean Nick Robinson ya?

Howsabout this little gem of info on Andrew Marr the former chief political correspondent of the BBC from 2000-2005.
"He was once a member of the Socialist Campaign for a Labour Victory. At Cambridge, Marr says he was a "raving leftie", and he acquired the nickname 'Red Andy'.

But thats OK innit? LOL LOL LOL
