I've been TTC for 7 months (was pregnant in four months to get dd) so I went to the doctor this month and had blood work done. They told me to come back seven days after ov and they'd test for progesterone and also while they're at it take a look at hcg. Well my thermometer broke this cycle right as I was ob'ing and I'm not sure of exact ov date but this passed Monday was 7ish days. The test was negative for hcg and progesterone "looked fine" she said.. she also said the progesterone would likely be higher if I was pregnant. My question is am I really out? So sad. I asked her could this be too early to tell and she said maybe.. but I wanted to hear if any of you have any input. Thank you so much.

Was this just your regular GP or a fertility clinic?? If it was a fertility clinic telling you, then go with what they say, they are experts in their field so if they so no chance even at 7DPO then its likely to be true, no matter what an internet stranger tells you.

If it was your GP - generally they don't know as much about the process as a fertility expert so I would wait another week, POAS and go with that. I would have thought that 7dpo is way too soon to tell because implantation probably hasn't even occurred yet, and implantation needs to happen before HCG starts to get released. I am fairly sure I implanted on 9DPO when I got UTD with my DD as I had a lovely implantation dip in my chart. I cant speak to progesterone as I dont know much about that at all, but you do need higher levels from what I understand to sustain a pregnancy.

Thanks so much for your reply Avidkeo. This was my OBGYN's office telling me, so not GP and not fertility specialist. Hmm. I'd still like to think there's hope like you said!
