Exactly. I'm pretty sure if someone scrapped away a woman's clitoris and sewed up her vagina in the us that wouldnt be ok so why is male circumcism?

Apparently something like this is done in places in africa, according to a friend who is from there..... Just putting that out there....

Personally, I find circumcision barbaric, but I would worry about the government interfering with religious practices, because you don't know where it would end.

I assume for medical reasons they use some kind of pain relief, i dont think they do for religious purposes.

There is a difference between doing something you have to that causes pain and doing something because your religion or culture tells you rp

I think it should be banned from all minors except where 2 doctors consent for medical reasons. Why should we have the right to permanently alter/change/mutilate our own childrens bodies when they have no understanding.

They should be able to decide for themselves at 18 whether they want to go ahead with it - I'd be okay with it then!!

It tends to be in places like Africa but happens in western countrys too. It is supposed to keep the pure and their husband opens them up on their wedding night. it is disgusting and barbaric. a lot of women well I think its done in their teens and younger die from shock or infection.

Religion should not justify stuff like.this

I don't agree with circumcision for any reason other than medical.

Even for religious reasons, I believe it's too much of a permanent change for someone who may completely reject the religion in future.

I would support the ban 100%.

I agree with it or atleast to have rules for who can do the procedure and pain relief given.
I'm in the uk and saw two babies circ'd come in and having really bad problems with it... I think it's ' okay' if it's done by doctors with proper pain relief. I really don't agree with it being done at home.

To whoever said circ for religious reasons means they dont use pain relief.. Is wrong. They use psin relief, circ for religious reasons isnt about causing pain! Also to the people sayin that circ for religious reasons is not justified have no right to comment on other peoples religions and say what they do is wrong or right.. At the end of the day you follow what you believe and others follow and do what they believe.. Each to their own imo

I know that, but male circumcision is not the same as severe female genital mutilation which are generally performed in unsanitary conditions and carry severe health risks.

I'm unsubscribing from this thread, I don't usually get offended but some people can be so high and mighty and seem to basically be accusing those who follow a religious rite (which I don't agree with by the way) of being child abusers. People who circumcise their sons for religious reasons genuinely feel that they are doing the right thing for their child, they aren't just causing pain for the fun of it.

I'm sorry but I dont see the difference apart from male circumcism is practised by a more main stream religion...that doesn't make it any more ok.

Why can they not.wait until the boy can make his own decision?
