hcg level tripled??? questions???

This is my first pregnancy. After 3 years hubby and i have finally gotten pregnant!! I had a positive hpt at 10dpo (july 17th) and blood test came back 16iu...then on 12dpo (july19th) my level increased to 33iu. The dr said it was positive and to contact an obgyn which i did. They scheduled me for another blood test for today at 21dpo (july 28th) and it came back at 2729iu!!! Im very happy with these high numbers but seems they tripled rather than doubled. This is our first baby. I want to make sure that the levels look great and if this means anything. Can this decrease our chance of miscarriage? My lmp june 13th puts me at 6 weeks, but my ovulation date which was the 6th or 7th of july puts me at 5 weeks. Not sure which one it is. Please any answers would be much appreciated!!! Thank you!!!!

Quickly rising hcg levels is a good sign, but nothing is a guarantee. Early pg is unpredictable. Once u see the hb, risk of mc goes down dramatically. Happy and healthy nine mos!!!

6 weeks LMP: 1,080 – 56,500 mIU/ml
7 – 8 weeks LMP: 7, 650 – 229,000 mIU/ml
9 – 12 weeks LMP: 25,700 – 288,000 mIU/ml
13 – 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 – 254,000 mIU/ml
17 – 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 – 165,400 mIU/ml

Thank you!! We have our ultrasound in 2 weeks on august 15th. Hopefully we will see a heartbeat then!! I was told levels looked great so i hope it stays that way. Its the first time i really felt excited since finding out. How do i tell how far along i am bc my lmp was june 13th but i ovulated on july 6th. Lmp would put me at 6 weeks, but ovulation wpuld put me at 5 weeks. Confusing!

They always go by lmp until ur u/s. Then they will adjust due date if need be. So, u are 6 wks. Even if we know the day we ovulated, the egg may not have actually been fertilized on the same day, which is why they don't use ovulation date.

Oh wow that is definitely weird! Lol so by 6 weeks the baby would have a heartbeat right? I was told that if your hcg is at least at 2000 you should have a gestation and yolk sac by then. Dont really know if it is true. Been trying to get advice from many since this is our first pregnancy

Probably u would see a HB, but everyone is different. Implantation takes place any time between 6-11 days after fertilization, and that could put things off by several days. I think if u can wait til ur between 7-8 wks, its a better chance.

If you know your ovulation date, it's much more accurate than LMP. Ovulation date is even a little bit more accurate than early dating scans if you're sure about the date. I know my ovulation date and my dating scan was 2 days off, but my midwives are going by my ovulation date since the early dating scans can be up to 4-5 days off. Tripling HCG is a really good sign! With my miscarriages, my levels didn’t even double, but with my healthy pregnancies, my HCG levels tripled as well!

That's great news. Hcg levels can be one indicator of a strong pregnancy. I was bleeding/spotting with my son, so I had my levels checked. I'll share mine with you.

With my son--

3 weeks, 2 days--39

4 weeks, 2 days--2900

5 weeks, 2 days--18,025

Your HCG levels sound great! Mine also more than doubled in the beginning, but the doubling time slows as your pregnancy progresses (for some people anyway, it happened to me and my doc said it was normal). I've had 3 ultrasounds so far due to previous losses and my first was at 5 weeks 6 days I believe, only saw a gest sac and yolk sac. Next was about 6 weeks 4 days, saw the baby and heartbeat! Then had another at 8 weeks 1 day, everything still looking normal and great. Good luck and congrats!
