I'm 17 wks with number two and almost constantly have a headache. I drink loads of water and don't what to medicate I can can avoid it, any suggestions anyone?

I mentioned it to my midwife last week and she said as everything else (blood pressure, urine) was normal it was nothing to worry about. But they're exhausting!!

I wish I had a suggestion for you. I could have written this post myself! I almost did, in fact. Since 12 weeks I've had a headache basically every day... 17 weeks now. Sometimes if I sit in the dark with a cool compress on my head it helps a bit, or do a facial massage.

My OB said to take tylenol but I have been avoiding and just suffering through.

It's not pleasent is it?! I find them so draining. Yes I find the only thing that really helps is laying down in peace and quiet... Which doesn't happen much as I have a 2 yr old keeping me on my toes.

Well if you find a miracle cure let me know!

sounds like migraines. I had bad headaches with my second but i did have raised bp. Headaches this preg my 3rd have been progressing last month or so am nw 20+5 my bp seem ok so no tht an headaches unfortunatly can be preg symptom mine arent so bad yet an i can suffer through but been hard last 2days (got bad cold) ive resorted parcetmol which technically dosent work on me.

I've had problems with headaches (like a headache every day for weeks at a time) with both my second pregnancy and this one. For me, I know it has to do with hormones, because I've also always had headaches around my period, too.

I either take Tylenol or use essential oils (doTerra makes one called "Past Tense" that works pretty well for me).

Oh, and it may not be relevant, but the two pregnancies with the headaches were/are boys, and with my girl I had no issue, so I wonder if there's any correlation?

I used to suffer with really bad migraine when I was a child (blind spots, loss of feeling in half my body, severe vomiting and a few days recovery) so maybe it's a mild version of that.

Interesting that symptoms were different for you noodles. My first was a boy and I was almost symptom free throughout the whole pregnancy. I've definitely struggled more this time around so wonder if its a girl.

And essential oils are a really good idea. Will have a look into that tomorrow.

Thanks all x

I find a bit of coffee helps - I usually do half caff. And of course still MORE water.

Do you have sinus pressure? I have really bad headaches once in a while, and realized they were from sinus pressure. I read online that when you are pregnant you're pumping much more blood in your body and this can cause your glands, and nasal passages to swell. It made sense for me since I noticed I get stuffed up noses all the time since becoming pregnant, and the stuffed up nose is usually accompanied by plugged ears and horrible headaches.

I'm in my third trimester now but throughout my pregnancy (mostly 1st & 2nd tri) I've gotten horrible headaches, some lasting for days. I either sit in a warm bath with the lights off and light a candle and close the curtain (sometimes the candle was still a little too much light for me) and just sit and soak in the water. Or I would sit in the bathtub in the dark with the hot shower running on me. I don't mind taking tylenol as I feel it's safe to do so, but I don't take it every time and it doesn't always help.

My on says try try natural remedies first and at the top of his list of natural headache remedies is caffeine. Half caff coffee, some dark chocolate, a few sips of a soda, or even some tea. However I have migraines as well and nothing helps except Tylenol and it still is not great so i suffer and only take any meds if it is extremely bad or if I still have a few hours of work left.

Caffeine, that's interesting. I had a few sips of my sisters diet coke yestetday and it did seem to relieve it. Although I can feel of returning today.
And I nice relaxing bath is always a treat!

It's nice to know others are also in the headache boat.

I found that a bit of caffeine helped too, I also used the 4head sticks a lot and that was really good.
