I have been a little nauseous the past few mornings and I remembered one of the things that helped me last time was these slimfast shakes as they are quite thick and really settled my stomach (don't worry I have no intention of dieting!)

I shook it up and was sat drinking it and didnt notice until half way through when I got a big chunk that it was all lumpy. It's expiration date is next month so do these things go off?! I feel ok so far, still nauseous though. Even if it was off am I right in assuming it wouldn't hurt baby even at only 5 weeks?

I think since the expiration was still a while off your fine! It probably didn't get mixed up completely at the factory and therefor shaking it wouldn't really help. I wouldn't worry Hun!

I'm gonna go with what PP said, it probably just wasn't mixed up properly. Even so, at 5w I'd say you're safe if it happened to be bad.. although the taste would've been your first indication. No worries :)

Those expiration dates are for THEIR protection...food is actually ususally pretty safe long after that date ( Ok not LONG after but....after hahaha) so...the fact that it's still a month away...use your sense....food has it's own expiration signs....sweating, smell, mould...so as long as it taste ok I'm gonna bet it just got mixed badly....your safe! :)

Thanks ladies x

I assume it was ok as I haven't been sick or had a sore tummy, although I think it has put me off slimfasts for life!!!

What I found helpful was to get a bottle with lid and shake the crap out of those drinks with just a little milk or warm water then add the rest of liquid. I found a decent wide mouth bottle at the dollar store. Powders are hard to mix right sometimes.

I agree experation dates are for company protection and most things last alot longer then they lead you on to think.

This was the ready made kind, you usually just need a little shake and they are fine, usually quite a loose consistency, not like milk, but not too thick either, perfect for morning sickness.

I never thought of the that though actually, i might actually try the powdered stuff you make yourself though as then at least I would know my milk was fresh!!

Be careful guys those things are loaded with chemicals! Better to whizz up a tasty ice cream shake with milk and fruit or just ice cream (sorry I'm no health nut but I recently became a chemical-phobic)
