Ok we went and did a small food shop today..... and as a treat we picked up a chocolate cheesecake from the fresh counter in Sainsburys!!

Now I know the cheese in it is ok.... but it does say free range large egg!!

So can I not eat this now?! I know this sounds silly but I was SO looking forward to this little treat.

Especially as we are having a very quiet weekend and i'm trying to be good an overloading on fruit and veg and lots of vitamins and this was supposed to be something lovely!

So is this a no-no???????!!!! Please advise ladies!!

Is it a baked cheesecake? If so you'd be fine as it would be cooked. I'd be quite surprised if Sainsbury's were selling anything with a totally raw egg in. Having said that, I've made uncooked cheesecakes with egg yolk in before, so you should be careful. Hope you find something yummy to eat!

I don't think that Sainsbury's would sell something with raw eggs in it.

We just had this discussion in second trimester.

I have eaten cheesecake and many of the other girls have too without giving it a second thought as most cheesecakes have processed cheese.....

But the best idea is probably to find the thread in:
SECOND TRIMESTER : SOFT CHEESE

hope it helps:hug:

it is like mayo if it is home made no but if it is shop bort yes i asked my midwife about it

If it's baked it will be fine. Cooked eggs are A-ok.

With soft cheeses, as long as they are made from pasteurised milk (which they will ALWAYS indicate on packaging) then you are fine.

I wouldn't imagine Sainsy's selling anything containing raw eggs in it either tbh.

like everyone else I imagine sainsurys add pasturised egg, not raw.
If someone got salmonella from somethng they sold, they would be sued for millions!
So I imagine they are very careful! :)

Thanks very much ladies..... I did have a slice and it was bloody wonderful!!!

I loved every mouthful!! So daft but I got really obsessed with it and extremely angry with my OH for found it funny!!!!
