HELP NEEDED! (opks and chart)

Hi ladies, pretty urgent as we are going to bed soon! lol.

Basically, My chart would suggest I might have ovulated yesterday (I usually have long irregular cycles but every now and again I get a 28 day one)

I started temping and using opks last month but I did not get a positive on an opk the whole cycle.

I have been testing this cycle and getting darker ones over the last few days of testing but not a positive.

Then I just tested a minute ago and it looks positive, well the most positive I have ever had and is as dark as the control and darker on one side of the test line. Would it pick it up after ov? Should I just bd in case? Do you think I might have oved? Opks have actually made the whole thing more complicated lol. any advice Id appreciate it! We dtd last night not sure if we should again tonight! xxx

Thank you for replying! I thought so too, but didnt get a positive opk on that day, but then I didnt last cycle either (and I did ov) I wonder why im getting this positive now? xx

I get positive OPKs the day of ovulation and the day after. I rarely get them before o. I'd say you ovulated yesterday since you had a dip & rise. Also, it doesn't look like you ovulated last cycle xx

Thanks, I thought you were meant to get a positive opk 12-36 hours BEFORE ov though? What makes you say I didnt ov last cycle? I had much higher temps in the LP? Just wondering as im new to all of this xx

It's different for everyone, they average is just 24-48 hours after. Some women have shorter surges. And I say that because there isn't much of a difference. If you didn't have that one rise, I doubt you would have gotten crosshairs. You had one rise and then they went straight back down. Theres only a few temps that are higher than the "pre o temps" but generally they are about the same. If you do have a LP of 17, that's considered a luteal phase defect. xx

Also see your coverline from last cycle? Most of your "pre o" temps are above the coverline, they should be below the coverline. You're pre o temps this cycle are also a little higher than your "post o" temps last cycle. They are generally the same every cycle.

Im learning so much! My chart is higher this month because I changed from temping orally to vaginally. I think you are meant to get higher temps with temping vaginally.
I see what you mean, so pre ov temps should mostly be below the coverline and post o temps should be way above? God that makes me worry that I didnt ov last cycle. Maybe thats why it was long? It was my first time temping you see? I was excited because I thought I ovulated at least, now I find I havent. I hope its different this cycle. I suppose this opk is a positive sign though i might ov this month?

I've learned SO much from this site, it's amazing how helpful and knowledgable some ladies are here. Yes, you are supposed to get higher temps when temping vaginally & yes you're right about the coverline! It's very normal for a woman to have a wacky cycle or two a year whether they ovulate late or not at all. It's nothing to worry about. Just try not to stress about it and you'll ovulate soon. I'm assuming you're regular because of you saying that last cycle was long. If your regular than there's probably nothing to worry about. Just get to BD'ing since you have that pos opk!!! If your temp keeps on rising I'd say you ovulated yesterday

Thanks a lot for all the advice. No im not regular, sometimes I have a few long then I will have a few short. I know I do have pcos so it probably explains why I didnt ovulate but I thought I just ovulated late and not not at all!

Do you think there is a chance I ovulated yesterday even though Im only getting a positive opk today? Im sure my chart will show whats been going on the next few days anyway! Wish I could know now lol.. we wont be able to dtd now until tomorrow evening will that be ok still? We dtd last night anyhow hope some make it! I didnt get a positive opk last month at all so I guess it makes sense, I thought I just missed my surge! xx

Well I'd say either yesterday or today you ovulate. If you're anything like me, I get an "almost positive" OPK the day I ovulate (none before that), and then a little bit darker OPK the day after I ovulate. I have no idea why that happens to me but whatever haha. Go by your chart & not OPKs on when exactly ovulation occurred. OPKs can be tricky lol
