Home Birthers & Hopefuls!

Hey Kimberly welcome to the thread - if you want your home birth you have one! You do need to talk to the head of midwifery and your MW. Your MW has a duty to support your birth choice through Nursing and Midwifery council rules and guidelines, so insist on it.

Aw good luck Jodie! positive vibes coming your way... Some people swear by visualisation of baby turning too - worth a shot, eh? xxx

definitely I will try anything! MW has me each night in a dark room shining a torch just above my pubic bone and also starting where the head is and talking to baby asking him to come down! she said babies are curious lol! OH has been talking to bump really low down, baby always responds to his voice! I have my scan tomorrow, but im pretty sure LO has just turned from the right to the left so far, still breech...Ive guessed the positions right so far but hopefully im wrong this time, or still time to turn him!

My very experienced MW (and 2 others) palpated by bump and all said breech and he was head down when scanned. I think he had a boney bum!

i hav made my mind up, i will stay home, m/w or NO m/w!! i am not goin hosp! (unless ther is a prob of course)
i will inform (yet another diffrent) m/w when i hav nxt appointment, that i WILL b homebirthing, and if they wish 2 attend or not, i will remain at home... :)

Hi Jodie, love the torch idea!

Kimberley, that ought to get them moving then...

probly wont, theyll jus tell me im being "stupid and riskin mine and my baby's life" again,
i really dnt care if ther is a m/w ther or not, i kno i will not b happy OR comfy in hosp

Well just say to them "its better than you risking my babys life by letting me deliver her all by myself in hospital" :dohh:

Can't believe that happeend to you hun, thats shocking. They have a duty of care to get someone out to you for your birth weather they agree with it or not, and at least you will have 2 to 1 care as well. They can't pop down the corridor to check on anyone else when you're at home can they.

I've found some midwives are very supportive and love HB, and some are less enthusiastic to say the least. My aunt is a GP and she says all the midwives in her surgery love doing homebirths!! And we have a specialist homebirth team at our hospital too, I feel quite lucky in that respect. I hope you get some support hun :hugs:

yeah ironically sayin that last time dint go down a treat, hhaahaa!

i doubt that my m/w will attend, jus 2 prove a point now, :/ ah well......
i will call an ambulnce when i feel the baby is almost ther ! :) that way i will hav a medical proffesional ther, who knos how 2 do resus* (jus in case) and they can giv me and baby a quick check over :) i thinki hav it sorted,
my OH would prefer me in hosp, but he also says he wud rather i was happy and relaxed, (as can b) durin labour and not havin freak-outs about bein left alone, or the potential lack of care 4 our baby! :)
heres hopin 4 a happy baby :) a happy mummy :) a happy daddy :) and a happy big bro and sis :)

my birth plan is.....
stay at home.....
enjoy baths......
watch tv.........
and birth in my environment......:)
(then call an ambulance)

i am fairly lucky that i hav a really high pain threshhold too, i dnt care if i cant hav any pain relief! i hadnt had any until my placenta was delivered wiv my daughter! :) (4 sum reason after deliverin my baby alone, they was concerened about my level of comfort whilst they delivered my placenta!!!) hahaha IRONIC!

haha really! hmmm thing is I can tell which are kicks and which are hands, plus the hiccups are top right of the bump under where she said head was. no scan today, MW had to go to a birth. ive been on all fours a lot, I am typing now with my bum up in the air, OH walked past and said mmmmmm interesting view ha ha!
I should not have started googling ECV´s and breech deliverys as im quite scared now

hi kimberly, im sure I posted this yesterday but cant see my post!
lol! they must have felt guilty, what a scary experience I can totally see why you want this birth at home!

yeah hopin i can do this! what do i need while homebirthing anyway?

any special equip, or jus the same stuff i wud take into hosp wiv me?

If I get asked one more time if I'll be "allowed a home birth after having a c-section last time?" I think I'm gonna scream!!!!

 say of course not you can be arrested by the birth police for that kind of shizzle!!

say your dh has learnt how to do stitches on the internet so if you burst at the seams he'll be ready with the needle and thread :)

ppl are silly arent they. im hoping that everyone forgets my edd, ill tell em its end of jan so they dont bug me at xmas!

I told MIL today that "unless a judge declares me unfit to consent then its my decision where to give birth". She changed the subject.

tbh it doesn't surprise me MIL asking and not getting it. She isn't very well educated and has limited experience of life outside her working class estate, where everyone thinks the same and no one questions anything. But I've been asked if I'll be allowed a home birth by some fairly high up social work staff at work. They knoooooow the law on consent and informed consent and they deal with risk every single working day to understand the difference between a risk and a significant risk... and yet medical culture of "doctor knows best" is so ingrained that they forget it isn't the doctors / midwives decision.

my mil was a mw and shes not very well educated either and thinks homebirths are stupid...oh sorry i forgot having a baby isnt natural, oh wait it is u tw*t lol

my doulas gone on holiday from today for 16 days so im not allowed to go into labour till shes back haha

cant believe i joined this thread at 7 weeks and ive only got 4 weeks left till the due date anyway

seriously, we should get a mil allowance from the government. how is it that theyre all nosy parkers who have opinions on everything based on nothing!

thats from my vaaaast experience of 1 at least :p

moomin - no birth stick for you! *hides it away*

I'll take the stick please!
.... erm  my waters started leaking at 2.30am and I'm losing my plug, some surges but nothing regular - trying not to get too excited

Oh WOWOW SMOKY!!

Sorry. I'll try not to get overly excited for you!.. But that is very exciting! ;-)

Love it!
