Home Birthers & Hopefuls!

I replied to the thread. The NICU nurse made me giggle, ofc shes only going to see the poorly babies - the healthy ones wont be paraded past the windows just so they can gain a sense of proportion :)

Someone start a thread about placenta eating 'whats the best dehumidifier to buy for my placenta' or something, then sit back and watch it get out of hand hehe

i was thinking that! ofcourse u see the ill babies u div its ur job :dohh:

it always gets me when so called health care professionals are against natural births

I really wanted to reply and ask her how many are HB 'gone wrong' and how many are hospital births, precipitated by unnecessary interventions by doctors? Don't get me wrong, I get it, when all you see is sick babies, then all you see is sick babies. But she doesn't see any of the healthy babies, that go home, or stay home. She sees the few and far between.

my mums had 4 babies all in hospital and each time they have messed up. the last 2 births, me at 36 weeks and my little sister at 41 weeks and they told my mum she wasnt even in labour and kept walking off leaving her.
my mum almost died giving birth to me because the lack of care she got and then there was a bubble in her drip...she really thought she was going to die. they left her with blood pouring all over the floor.

now if thats what being around health care professionals does then id rather be alone in a field

i just think that people rly do make such a massive fuss out of it all. its just self perpetuating bullcrap.

I'd like to see this thread (link, please!).

<<< This NICU nurse planned a home birth because of all the risks in hospital.

ooh hehe, perfect person then :)

lol, it makes me so thankful that my mother ( a nurse before having children ) always asked questions and made doctors explain things when i was growing up and was never afraid to get a second opinion caus its made me aware i dont just have to follow a doctor blindly , after all they are only human and as prone to mistakes as the rest of us they are just trained in a specific area.

My gp and someone elses gp firmly believe that if you have periods you ovulate. I know they're not specialists but they're paid what £100k to tell us this claptrap. Google it and you'll get better information. And they wonder why we don't trust them...

I'm off. Had a lovely time ranting tho :)

stay away from the thread about "preparing to battle" then lol

That's been started by the same girl who had a go at me on the sceduled induction thread - she said something on there about how some people were into homebirthing etc but she wasn't, despite there being absolutely no suggestion to the OP that she should birth outside of hospital, only advice re: scheduling an induction so her SIL could buy her plane tickets! :dohh:

So she's obviously got an axe to grind, I had a quick look at that thread last night but it was making my blood boil and I reckon she's never going to listen anyway. I was glad to see how many ladies, not even from this section who did wade in in defence of natural birth though, I might have to go and trawl again but I doubt I'll post - I've had to give the Sarah Buckley book back to the owner and most of the good stats and references are in there, I've a crap memory for numbers and wouldn't want to post anything misinformed, despite the fact that she's happy to. :growlmad:

Hoping you've blown her away, Bourne! :winkwink:

Oh dear God, I appear to have got myself into a war on the home v's Hospital birth thread, some of these women are soooo touchy - you give them facts and they say you are talking down to them or belittling them, I can't keep my mouth shut though when someone's spouting nonsense - Hellllp!

good for you indigo! have you listened to any birthing affirmations? I had my on my ipod last night when OH got home, he took my headphones off and started saying, "I can feel my body opening like a flower, Im ready to birth my baby" in a really dippy voice lol! totally killed my relaxation but was very funny

Hiya Jodie, yes I have listened to them loads, and told baby I'm ready and it does feel a little bit silly :haha: but if it works I'm all for it! can't hurt can it. I'll have to try the 'opening like a flower' one  I can imagine my hubby too, he'd find it hard to keep a straight face listening to me saying about opening my flower lol

haha I know I feel a bit silly first of all as well, especially when it says, my baby is in the perfect position, and I know mine was breech! but no it cant hurt anything worth a try!

ah thank you silverpenny and chuck!! :hugs: im bookmarking all these positive breech stories to keep reading over again if and when I find that baby is still breech. ive stopped doing the exercises to turn bubs as have been feeling hiccups really low down and what feels like little hands digging about down there, but still feel like baby must be a bit side to side or diagonal....
the ladies on this thread are by far the best thing about BNB! So supportive, helpful and knowledgeable about home birth and such like! expecially since I dont really contribute anything other than lots of questions! ive found it so helpful having this thread preparing for my birth :)
cranberry hahahaha love it! we would be called cannibals for sure! :haha:
right im off to read the homebirth v hospital thread which will be entertaining but very annoying im sure!

hahahahahaha @nikki in the other thread!
Hey, like your avatar - is that you on the horse? Just a small point, but if it's you, do you only ride in the hospital grounds? Horseriding is way more dangerous then birth! Do you know anyone who's had a riding accident? Heard of any? Yip we all have, just the same as we've all heard horror birth stories, yet we can't allow it to rule our lives "Just in case", as we know it's the minority. With birth it's far, far less likely to be an issue than with riding. /QUOTE]

Evidently that was "belittling and unneccesary"

Morning ladies!
Well I'm full of the joys becuase I have started to loose my plug! Only a little tinge so far.. so we are going out as usual this morning, and as I have I think quite a bit of time, I called my mum and dad to give them a heads up and perhaps take my daughter from about lunch time - but we will see how we go.

Oh I missed the birth battle thread, I've been wading in the hosp v home one - I'll be getting into that one as a brilliant distraction later on! ;-) As I'm one of those people you know whos "into home birth" - does this lady think of it as though it is some type of hobby? funny.
XXx

Woohoo, Bourne! here's hoping it's all starting for you! I dunno if you should go onto that thread, it might get your blood boiling, adrenaline pumping and stop what seems to be starting for you, lol. Haha, homebirth hobbyists, too funny!!

Has anyone heard from Smokeyjoe yet?
