Hospital Bags

in the states they do provide diapers. I spoke with my hospital and they said I could wear my own gown. I plan on laboring in the shower so after searching far and wide, I found a black gown for labor and bought a second one just like it for when I get out of the shower. I dont want to labor in the shower naked.

I'm also taking massage oil incase I feel okay with my husband helping to rub my back when Im laboring. Some hospitals make you take your own birthing ball as well, so if you plan on using one def check into it. My hospital provides one.

Thanks Autumntx I hope my hospital will let me wear my own gown I would just feel more comfortable in that then those thin open gowns they provide with that typical hospital smell on them lol. I go for my preadmissions this coming Tuesday so I'll be able to find out what I can bring and what they will provide for me. I had thought about taking my birthing ball with me but I don't know if I want to lug that thing around or not.

My hospital provided birthing balls, rice socks that they heated up for me. If I wanted music or massage tools (lotion or back massager type things) we had to bring them.

I plan on bringing more food and drinks for dh. Hospital provided mine during labor And after birth, but didn't provide anything for dh. During labor I didn't want him to leave and so he went pretty much all day without anything to eat or drink. The vending machine was too far away in our opinion. So we will have snacks and water/soda in a bag for dh. After delivery he could leave and get food - no big deal. So just for during labor.

Here is my list for the bags I'll be packing this weekend. If you feel there is something I need to add or something I have forgotten please let me know...I'm a terrible packer. :dohh:

we are lucky in some ways but I have read so many things on this site that make me envy the UK mammas!~

We may be lucky at that but I envy the maternity time you all get in the UK. What i would give to be able to take so much time off to spend with my baby

Our hospital gives us diapers, wipes, baby wash and lotion, has blankets, hats, and outfits if necessary. For me they'll have the sanitary pads and things for after birth.

For me I have 3-4 sets of clothes (I'll be there 3 days), camera, toiletry items, and an OH that can run and get extras for me lol :D
