How are you going to share a BFP when you get it?

I couldn't figure out if I should start this in TTC or WTT. But I'm WTT at the moment and well, while we are all WTT and can only think baby... I thought it would be neat to share ideas on how we all plan to share our BFP news with our partners, family, and friends. Sorry if this is in the wrong section!

I have been reading other ideas via google searches and some are neat. I think I've finally decided how I'm going to tell DH.

I'm always home before him and will test at home alone. Once I get a BFP I plan on buying a bassinet and putting it together. I will set it up in our bedroom so that when he comes home from work it will be ready :) I'll probably put a few baby items inside of it like maybe diapers or a stuffed animal.

For the family, we have discussed it and plan to take our parents out for dinner at a restaurant. We can't decided though if we want to have special menus that include items like baby carrots etc. and let them figure it out or if we want to have the waiter/waitress bring a high chair out with balloons attached and make the announcement that we will be needing it in 9 months.

I hope to hear some more ideas :)

Ah I like those ideas.

I think I will send everyone a card, with a photo inside of Amara wearing a t-shirt saying something like 'Im going to be a big sister' or 'Im going to be a sister' with the test somewhere in the picture, maybe with her holding it.
Maybe if OH is away I will send him the picture as well, but if he is home he will probably be with me doing the test so... Which will be nice as last time he was away at work and I couldnt get hold of him and I left like 30 missed calls and texts saying 'please ring me, its really important' and when he did ring me, he was so worried something was wrong :haha:

I dont plan on telling anyone until im about 12-16 weeks.

I decided this morning I'm going to get our daughter to tell my husband :)

And family will probably just be a text as they're never very interested in what we do :\

This will be our first so no big brother or big sister to make the announcement. I think those ideas are adorable! My extended family (aunts, uncles, grandparents etc.) and I are close as well as we get together just about every month for b-day's and such. I was thinking about getting my niece (1) and nephew (4) shirts saying "I have a cousin on the way" or something like that. I only have one sister so it would be obvious but still might make them think because they're not expecting us to even try for a few more years :)

I am looking online now for a book for first time Dads, im going to wrap it up ready for when the times come and when its a BFP ill give him the book all wrapped up! I cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i think hubby will probably be with me when i do the test!

if not, then i think a cute baby grow for him followed by me waving the test around!

older siblings making the announcement sounds very cute!

I probably won't be able to contain myself with my husband. I'll most likely call him right away if he's not home or if he's with me be purely idiotic with happiness. I may tell a few other people right away: parents, my sisters and a close friend or two but that's it until I'm 12 weeks or so along if we can keep it quiet that long. Most everyone will get a phone call because we live so far from most family. For our daughter my husband and I will sit down and talk to together with. She's been asking for ages for a baby brother/sister and I'm sure she'll be really excited.

That's such a cute idea!!! I've seen a similar idea for first time grandparents!

Okay, I have to ask what a baby grow is :) I'm thinking it's what we refer to as a sleeper? Like a little outfit the baby can wear for the first few months?

Also, I initially thought I'd want him with me and if I test on the weekend this will be the case... but I don't think I can put off testing if my 2ww date is during the week! And I'll be testing right at the first day I'm able to so I will probably have to use FMU to get an accurate result. I'm too impatient!!!

awwww love this thread!! OH would prob b with me when im testing if not i would just ring him strait away lol for anyone else i would love to keep it hush hush till after my scan then get the people i want to tell round for dinner and bring out a plate and put in in the middle of the table but no food - just baby stuff and scan in the middle :) xxxxx

Love this thread! I like the high chair at the restaurant idea! That's cute! Keep the ideas coming! I want to be creative, just don't have any good ideas right now. But I'll post up once i do! =)

So I've shared my idea for telling DH, parents, and close family... Now was for my friends and classmates! I have decided that after I'm 12 weeks (if I can wait) I'm going to buy a funny t-shirt to wear and see how long before someone says something to me! I can't decided which shirt as there are so many cute ones. I love this website... https://www.cafepress.com/+funny-pregnancy+womens-maternity

I especially like the "Mommy's little sidekick" with footprints :)

My husband will most likely be with me when I test. He will know straight away because I'll have the most massive smile on my face, there may also be some twirling and dancing about the place! LOL :)

For my parents, I plan to wait for our first scan and frame it for them.

hmm, good question.
OH would be told first if he wasn't taking the test with me or if i got a call from the gyno. and then we would prolly wait for a couple of weeks if we can and then tell everyone once we know that everything is ok...but i have a feeling that we will end up telling everyone soon after finding out for ourselves lol.

Long story short, my husband wrote me a sweet proposal on my computer screen in a program, and we have pranked each other back and forth with our desktop pictures. So I think one day when I wake up earlier than him, I'll change the desktop picture on his to a picture of the bfp test, so it will be the first thing he sees when he boots it up. And his computer monitor is our tv, so it will be right in his face!

No idea about the family since we won't be living close to half of them.

I think I am going to buy a onesie with the logo of my hubbys favorite sports team and present it to him when we find out - whether I find out and let him know when he comes home or if we find out together and then show it to him!

We will be living far from all family and my sister already has a child (my parents are already grandparents) so we will probably just call/skype them to let them know, but it will be the first grandchild for my in-laws so we'll have to plan something special for them. I'm hoping to wait until atleast week 10 to tell family and friends. I'm also hoping to wait until we know the sex of the child before we make any direct statements about being pg on FB.

Aww some sweet ideas :D

Well if all goes to plan (see the thread i just made lol) And we conceive october then id love to surprise everyone at christmas! I always normally give mine and OHs parents a picture of LO framed, so i want to get him a top saying 'Im going to be a big brother' or along those lines and give them a photo of him wearing it :D

These are all such neat ideas! I think it's such a personal moment and overwhelmingly exciting too! I've read a lot of stories where people wished they had thought about it and done something neat but were just too excited to share. So, I thought I would start this thread to make people think about it :)

@babynewbie Christmas is a great idea! I love fall/winter :) My TTC is the last week of August which means if I get a BFP right away it will be my b-day, the next month would be our anniversary/my mom's b-day, the month after that DH's b-day and so on. It seems there will be a great opportunity at any point this fall/winter!!! I wish I could wait until Christmas but if I get a BFP right away I won't be able to keep my mouth shut. :haha:
