How do you pronounce

I always thought your names were as they are supposed to be pronounced,, and I think Hallie is a lovely name.

Mine are fairly difficult to say wrongly. Laura as in Lorra and Caidan as in
Kay-din,with the emphasis on the Kay!

Surprisingly, most people here say Helena's name right. I thought they would say
Helen-ah, but we pronounce it Hell - lay- nah.
She gets Hel - lee - nah a lot though.

Wow these all seem so obvious to me that they should be pronounced the way that you say? I think people are just lazy sometimes....
My name is Creenagh ( kree-na ) and if people see if written down...well the sounds they come out with!
If they don't see it written it takes most people a really long time to stop calling me Carina or Corina or even Catrina.
My fil STILL consistently calls me Carina even though he is always being corrected (not by me, i don't bother lol)

And when we had Cael , Kay-el, he (FIL) called everyone to let them know and suddenly we are getting all these calls, txts and emails congratulating us on the birth of little Kyle! That took some rectifying...

If I'm being totally honest. I can't stand names that are spelt differently to the normal version. I really don't see the point and think its quite a chavvy thing to do just to stand out.
What's wrong with just calling you kid its name with its normal spelling, stops people mispronouncing it and means your kid can actually spell it when they learn to write and not get their name or everyone else name wrong constantly because they are different!! EG: jadan ~jayden, jaden, jaydan, jaedan, jaeden, jaedyn!
The English language is meant to be pronounced a certain way therefore pronounce it that way or speak another language because you might as well if you think 'aa' should be said 'ae'!!!

My LO is called Joseph which is just Jo-Sef, haven't had any problems so far. My name is Jacqueline which is just Jack-a-lyn, tho I have one auntie who always calls me Jack-lyn, not a real problem tho. The problem I get is the spelling of Jackie! I have always spelt it Jackie but my in-laws and a friend of mine always write Jacqui, no matter how many times I say I spell it the other way x

No I agree with you! I think funny spellings are waaaay chavvy when they're made up.

I can understand people spelling names the Irish / Scottish / French way or whatever though, that's totally different.

I'm inclined to agree with you but some names aren't English so theyre not going to be pronounced like they would in english.

I completely agree! Whats with all the stray "y"s these days? Basically people use them when they've chosen a common name but want to be "different". I end up pronouncing it "iiin". Jaiydynn= "jay-diin"...because that's how it's spelled! If they wanted "jay-dun" then it should be spelt in a way that represents that, like Jayden I don't get it

Agree with the others about names from other languages though, but thats totally different. That's spelling them right because they're not English

I'm inclined to agree with you but some names aren't English so they're not going to be pronounced like they would in English.

That's okay, if its a foreign name then its not English so doesn't come under my generalisation. I purely mean names like Rebecca being spelt Rebekka. If your name is Aimé then that's fine as its the French equivalent to Amy, but Amie, or Ami is just wrong to me.

Hahaha... I totally agree with this. I just had to write invitations to Freya's birthday party, and had a rough time trying to spell all her friends' names.
Funny thing is that MY name is kind of an 'alternative' spelling
Well, that's not entirely true. My parents chose my name because they liked the meaning, but they got the pronunciation wrong. My name is Nereida, which is of Spanish/Greek origin. It's pronounced Ne-RAY-da (something I only found out last year!), but we say it Nerida.
