My OH, our kids and I stay home and don't really do anything different.

But this year I want to make a tradition.

Mamafy gave me a good idea of baking on Christmas Eve.

How do you spend it with your kids and family?

every year me family and friends all go the local pub have done for years and will do same this year....but i wont be my normal very merry self :) XXX

we normally go to the cinema and then have something to eat out, then we will come bake lots of christmassy food and get my son all excited lol xx

We always have a "special" dinner and then we go visiting at my aunts house, which has resulted in a huge drunk as we've gotten older :D

I actually DREAD Christmas Eve. DH's family all get's together (and they HATE me) this year we're at our house. They got to church (I won't go to their church...wrong kind so I get crap for that) then go to a house and unwrap presents to eachother. One of the kids is a holy terror (7), one of them puts on a shy act and won't even say thank you (she's 9!). The 7yo goes thru all the presents throwing them and unwrapping them until he finds the ones for him. The other kids (5 of them) go thru whoever's house it is and looks thru EVERYTHING. They have no manners. Oh, and the 7yo is scared to death of my dog, who I am NOT locking up...she ignores him, and climbs all over my fur-niture screaming bloody murder. His parents hate me and make me feel like worthless crap. I hate Christmas eve. I used to love it, when I was a kid my family and I would go to church, then go home and open one present from eachother each and my sis and I would get new PJs for Christmas. It was so much fun...I can't believe I dread Christmas...kinda sad

We always go to the pub, which is opposite church.. then on to midnight mass... then back to the pub!!

We usually all go out for a drink too, will be this year also :D xXx

Our Family (my side) all gets together for all sorts of appys and homemade goodies, we watch the santa clause parade, then go home and open christmas eve presents, which are PJs and a book. And then kids will go to bed after reading their new book...then me and OH do stockings and finish up wrapping.

We usually all go over to my OH's grammas where we eat like animals then go to church at 9pm and head back to her place to eat some more LOL
This year tho we will be spending it on the road :( OH has to work until 3:00 on Christmas Eve so we will be traveling all evening (until probably 2am) to get to his parents place.

well in the day i will be going asda for last minute deals on veg and stuff lol but of an evening we have a take away and i have to watch a muppets christmas carol every christmas eve lol and then we open one present each which is new pjs so we are all comfy sleepin in new pjs xmas eve lol

Put our nice toasty jammies on, relax, maybe watch a xmas film. Make sure all is prepd for the big day!!

Leave santa some milk & a mince pie & a carrot for rudolph!

Back at home we would usually just go to church and bed, then a big Christmas party the next day.

But this year,me and Lola are going to my sister for lunch, then at home we'll be decorating the tree (I mean,I'll be decorating it ) and wrapping presents.
When she gets older then I'll start with all the fun traditions like baking cookies for Santa, footprints in the flower, making presents and such things...

I bake :) lots of nice food, cookies, mince pies, stuffing :D then I prepare all the food for the next day, cook the turkeys, ham, beef, make trifle and then into our jammies and watch something xmassy

I've decided to do the following on Christmas Eve Day and Night:

Take kids to see Santa and get them all excited.
Shop for my baking if I haven't done so by then.
Get home and bake with the kids.
Perhaps go and view the Christmas lights around the city.
Watch a Christmas movie with the kids.

Then, of course, leave cookies and milk out for Santa.
Pray that my kids go to bed early so our playing Santa isn't being done too late in the night.

This will probably be my first Christmas Eve Day that I don't have to finish wrapping presents, or running out to get one last thing. :)

Because of a nice mom yesterday, my kids had a playdate after school with her daughters. She took them right after school and had them for 3 hours, then dropped them off at home. I spent the entire afternoon wrapping gifts and I got 90% of it done! :happydance:

Oh and I guarantee that I'm gonna be spending at least 4 hours putting one toy together to only realise I have 5 screws leftover :hissy:

I hear your pain. LOL

Our bin disposal driver is on salary and this time of year it is slow. So he gets lots of days off.

I asked him to put together my son's train table on Tuesday of last week. He's been avoiding us and hasn't been around until it was payday yesterday. The table...still not put together.

Was hoping to do it before Christmas as it's gonna take 3 hours or so. We are gone Christmas Day and then to a party on Boxing Day.

So when will this be put together? LOL

Normally I'm at work till lunch, but as Xmas Eve falls on a Wednesday, it's my day off.:happydance:

So I'll prep the veg and stuff for Xmas Day in the morning, cook a curry, and make sure the house is spotless. Then the local pub are having a Xmas party for the kids at 3pm, with a guest appearance from you-know-who, then home for about 6-ish for curry that I've cooked in the morning, Charlie in bed for 7 (hopefully!) so that we can play Santa. I think I'll try and get an early night because I'm exhausted at the minute, and Xmas Day is soooo long!

Oh, and PitPullMommy - don't let them get to you hun.

We usually get drunk!

Last year I was pregnant though and I was in England at hubby's family and his bloody mother was forcing me to go to church because as per her I was too pregnant to go to the pub with everyone else... Well, I went to the pub but drank fizzy water and watching everyone being drunk and making fools of themselves.

My my does a party from 2pm~8pm for kids with lots of food and games and treasure hunt for a few pressies then home milk and carrot out and kids to bed x
