How do you spend Christmas Eve?

We always all go to my mums Christmas Eve, myself, my brother, and nan all stay over and we order a Indian from our local, then play some board game Monopoly if my brother gets his wish but sometimes Trivial Pursuit or something similar, before the real thing the next day, Oh and Dad has to check on the turkey as final preperations for it are done so its all cooked for Christmas Day and all that needs doing to it Christmas day is the carving. We always have a huge turkey as we have everyone come down Christmas Day.

ALthough this year its a quiter one just me, mum, dad, nan and brother.

Hope we still have the Indian on Christmas Eve though as one year we went to a kids party instead and got back at about 9pm (we didnt have kids it was just a family members kids party hence the late return) and when we got back the phone rang and it was our local Indian calling to ask what time we were ordering that day as tehy were only waiting for us before they closed for Christmas. Very embarressing  as we didnt want to order and they had seriously only stayed open for us cos tehy know us so well and they knew we always ordered.

We were always told when kids that rudolf and the other reindeers preferred after eight mints to carrots. Found out later obviously the reason why as never realised that mum and Dad didnt liek raw carrots themselves. funny that.

It was always a sherry (mum would have) and mince pie for santa (dad had mince pie usually) and after eight mints atleast 4 for the reindeers (shared between the pair of them).

It was funny as we would always see the wrappers for the mints in there bedroom the next morning they really should have learnt to put them in the bin.

As next Christmas when LO here, and Ill be at mums still (moving back there) I think I'll make sure that LO knows that it has to be carrots for reindeer and a mince pie and sherry for santa as I know that with carrots there no bits left anywhere when I eat them. LOL. And santa always leaves a mess with his wrapper. Just to show his really been there and eaten it not just take nit away with him.

xmas eve our aunt and uncle come over to my parents house and we just eat food, exchange gifts (this year is a steal a gift) and talk and listen to music. My mom also has a table cloth that we all sign every year. It's a great tradition and I look forward to it each year :) Hopefully next year we'll be in our own place and we'll do it there :D

We don't really do anything special on Christmas Eve! It's just a normal day here to be honest.

I'm working Christmas Eve though in the pub, and we have a few parties booked in, so some very drunken people I expect, plus we have a kid's party on in the afternoon for some of the regular's children! We have face-painting and kid's entertainer. I'm going to have my face painted! :happydance: Get in the spirit. When I get home, it will be gone midnight, so will just go to bed, flop and wake up early in the morning xx

We make a late homemade appys/pizza dinner, finish wrapping presents and yelling at each other to "stay out of this room or that room" or "close your eyes" and then all settle down for a few drinks with family/friends that stop by.

Christmas eve is the same every year for me and has been since I was a kid. Now I just do it with my own family. I remember my dad making us watch the black and white version of the Christmas Carol and I hated it...Now I make my kids watch it. Then they get to open one present before bed which is always christmas pajamas. Then we put out the cookies, milk and carrots...the kids go to bed and santa arrives to fill up the spot under the tree.

in the morning, really early, me and mum go to asda and get all the last food bits, and normally me mum and nan go into town for a walk round the shops. this year is slightly difference, as we lost nan last week me and mum are still going to asda, but going to see nan in the chapel of rest afterwards

in the eveing we will do the same thing as usual, just without nan , we always get in our pj's bake xmas-y food and watch an xmas film, then we order take out. all at my mum and dads with my grandad, james and maddi x

When we were kids we would spend Christmas Eve as a family. Then in the evening we would go out somewhere for dinner. After dinner we'd all head back home, and we'd get to open one present from under the Christmas tree. After that the adults would have a couple of drinks and we'd all drag our sleeping bags into my Mums room and all sleep on the bedroom floor whispering excitedly about santa coming. In the morning we'd all wake up together.
