how long does it normally take to see a midwife?

I had my Gp appointment at 4wk 3 days and he referred me to the Midwifes. My appointment there though isnt until 2nd June when i will be 13+1.

I just called my surgery and they said I don't have to see a gp before the midwife and just booked me an appointment with the midwife for 2 weeks time when I will be 8 weeks! they said to come in before that date to collect my maternity book which has sections in it that they like you to fill out before your appointment.

I saw my maternity book - briefly, when I went for the 12wk scan! They filled in a few bits of it and then kept it, saying that I'd get it eventually from my midwife. Presumably she won't waste precious minutes in my tight 45-min appointment asking me stuff like "next of kin" that I could have completed before now ....
