I'm going to be using Avent bottles how many do you need in each 4oz and 9oz size?? i'm a bit clueless, midwives dont tend to be much help and just bang on about breast feeding :dohh:

I wouldn't bother buying the smaller size as you will only get 3-4 weeks out of them. 6 big ones will do you :) Bare in mind your baby might not get on with the ones you get!!

I'm planning on having 5 bottles but i'm going to use NUK. I'm only going to buy the bigger (think its 9 or 10oz) ones because i think its a bit of a waste buying the smaller ones when im going to have to replace them with bigger ones a few months later anyway. So I'm going to just buy big ones straight away. I think 5/6 bottles is enough meaning that i will probably do a wash and sterilise once in the morning and once in the evening giving me enough clean bottles to last the day/night feeds.

I'd just get the 9oz bottles. I use Nuk ones but always used the bigger size bottle, meant I didn't have to buy 2 different sets

I would advise getting at least 5 bottles of whatever size you're using. X

We have 6 of the large avent ones. I started with the small size as they were given to me (new) but they don't last long so I would agree to just buy the larger bottles however I used teat size 1 until Lo was 1 month old and the ones that come with the larger size bottle are teat size 2 so bear in mind you might want to just buy the smaller teats for the first month xxx

Agree w/ the other posters on the sticking to the bigger size. Also on the bare minimum being 5-6. I think we're up to at least 10...I keep an eye out for specials. Washing bottles is my least favorite chore, though. :)

I have 10 of the 9oz bottles on rotation, means i only have to wash them up once a day x

I would also say only by the bigger bottles. I use Avent ones and have 6 small ones and 5 big ones. I only have small ones as one came with my steraliser, one with my brest pump and someone else bought me the newborn starter set for bottles.

If you do only get bigger bottle you will need buy the slower flow teats to go with it.

some babies don't like to eat too much in one sitting - mine has only ever eaten 3 1/2oz at the most, and usually drinks 2 1/2oz. we still haven't opened the bigger bottles yet.

so, just in case you have a skinny minny who doesn't like to eat too much in one sitting like mine, i'd get a few small bottles too.

I used Avent and would agree with someone above, dont bother with the smaller sized bottles, you wont be using them for very long! Get 6 of the bigger ones x
