Hey Girls,

I had a call from my gyne's secretary yesterday and she's going to send me for tests for HIV and Rubella. How many tests do i have before the ivf countdown?
I have no idea what to expect
Anna

These are the tests we had before IVF:

Me:
21 day progesterone test
Full hormonal blood test
Blood test for STD's
Pelvic ultra sound on CD 5 (I think, or around about that)
Laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, dye test, uteral biopsy

DH:
x3 regular sperm tests
x2 SCSA sperm tests
Blood test for STD's

Every clinic will vary though.

After all tests are done your Dr will decide on a protocol. For me I had long down regulation which consisted of 21 days on the pill, then started lucrin (most clinics use synarel or a similar spray though) for a few days, then stop pill, get AF a few days later, then keep up with lucrin, BT to make sure I down regged, then started FSH and of course things went on from there.

Hi there, We had pretty much the same as FLJ. I had trouble with my thyroid ( underactive) so had to continue to wait 6 weeks, change drug dose, wait 6 weeks, change drug dose so we have actually been doing that since January!

Our treatment plan is about 6 weeks from start to finish.

Good luck with all the tests!

More tests the better i say gives you a clearer picture in the long term!

Hi Anna

Are you going NHS or private?

We started off on the NHS path and had the following tests carried out:

Me

CD21 bloods
internal scan
swabs for chlamydia and other STDs
HSG test
CD3 bloods

DH

2 x SA
HIV bloods
Hep B bloods
Hep C bloods

We won't reach the top of our NHS list for approx 13 months, and we could go 'private' at the same hospital but will have to wait until approx March 2009. We have since decided to go to a proper private clinic and I will get the following tests just prior to starting treatment:

AMH - anti-mullerian hormone test (This is instead of Day 3 bloods - it gives accurate information about egg quality which means that the guesswork is gone for drug strengths)
HIV bloods
Hep B bloods
Hep C bloods

I don't think the clinic need another SA from DH as both of his have been good, and the last report was done with reference to IVF. I tried to get my HIV/Hep B/Hep C bloods done at my doctor's but my health board is stingey and wanted to get someone else to pay for it. The private clinic include these tests in the price of the treatment anyway, so sod the NHS I'll get them done privately.

Even if you are considering going private I'd get as many tests done NHS as possible as it will keep the cost down for you.

Hope some of that helps.

I'm sure you did mention this in one of your previous posts but my memory is absolutely shocking at the moment. Have you had internals, HSG, Lap, or anything like that done?

i'm going the nhs route at the moment as i'm still holding out hope for clomid to help me ovulate and give me a chance naturally but if it gets to a 2 or 3 year wait as i know some people have had i might have to rethink my options
