how many vials do they take??

i have had a midwife appointment but has to book up blood test as they dont do the same day so i have it tomorrow and scarred!! how much do they take as when i went to hospital they took 3 vials (i presume as they were testing for 3 things- only got one result back and looks like will be repeated)

i do hope they will let me lie down and not put strap on tight (as hosp didnt and i managed that) ekkk

feeling abit low 2day tbh maybe its the hormones but my brother is being abit personal texting me saying he thought i was on pill, was it planned as he forgot if it was, if condom split etc.... i just feel like im a silly girl or something :S

then i start to think what other people will think when they find out next week :S

Hi hun, if it makes you feel any better, each vial only holds on average 5ml so its only like 1 teaspoon per vial x

I have a phobia of blood tests too, it's not the amount they take that worries me, it's the needle going in - our local phlebotomy clinic is really good, they do lay the chair back if you're inclined to feel faint (as I do!) it's one of my worst fears about the whole pregnancy!

You'll be fine. Maybe you're brother is just being protective? I'd take offence to those texts too though!

I do not do bloods well with the 1st 1s in preg i blacked out both times as my blood wouldnt come out. drink lots of water today tomoz.

Not sure how many they took from me as I can't watch. I hate having my blood taken. I am much better if I can lay down and keep my eyes closed the entire time. But I think they took a fair amount because of the amount of time that passed from when they started to when they were done.

As for your brother, I would also be taken aback by some of those messages...I mean, my birth control methods have nothing to do with my brother and I wouldn't really want to discuss it with him.

i just hate the feeling when the strap goes on and your arm goes tingly

this would be my 3rd test as had my 1st one as a kid and didnt end up well!! even my mum passed out hahaa have to get used to them as its not an option now!

with my bro im not going to say anything apart from it wasnt planned and thats personal!! feel odd just thinking about talking about all that stuff! just want to shout at him and say all contraception is not 100% grrrr maybe he just being nosy as he loves asking a million questions about things (slight autism) so maybe he doesnt realise what he is asking is v.personal :S

or maybe its my mood and tomorrows bloods!- might go for a walk to cheer me up!!

They only took three from me, but right before she took my blood she asked specifically if I was allergic to penicillin. Which i am and she said "I'm really glad I asked!" But never told me why? Any ideas what penicillin has to do with me getting blood taken for tests?

They took 8 from me-but only b/c I had a complicated pregnancy with my son...so they are being cautious...and I know that I have many more blood tests ahead!!

i hate having bloods taken only because it takes forever for them to find my veins! i've had blood taken twice now and both times i have had two people hovering around my arm and prodding me for like 10 mins, my arm feels like it could fall off by the end very uncomfortable for me but aprt from that i dont mind i watch them when they find it and they took about 5 vials from me x

I went today for my first apt and they took 6. I always let them know I am nervous and they will have a conversation with me or sing. I like when they sing lol. I just look away and keep my eyes closed. Not everyone may know this, but they have 2 different needles they can use on you. I always ask for the butterfly needles as the are smaller and less painful.

Three vials I think. Ask for them to use a butterfly needle, rather than the huge butcher sized one most medical professionals seem to think is acceptable. I'm Not Good with blood being taken (mainly because the needle going in hurts me so much!) but it was much less painful with the much smaller butterfly needle.
