Callum is now having bottles during the day and i'm not totally sure how much he should be having. I've read that a 4 month old should be having around 6 ounces every 4-5 hours. Is this about right because Callum has a 5-6 ounce bottle every 2-3 hours. He is on aptatmil. Do you think he should have the aptamil 'extra hungry' milk? So confused. xx

Is he draining his bottles? If so you may try going up an extra ounce and seeing if that tides him over for longer.

I agree wth vickie... but Jasmine wont go any longer than 2.5-3 hours in the day no matter what I try.

Cormack only has formula at night but he has 7oz and that keeps him going for 4 hours. That is what the hv recommended to us.

i've tried giving him an extra ounce but he just cant finish it. he can only manage 5-6 ounces at a time! x

Maybe he's just a little and often eater! Could it be the flow on the bottle not being fast enough ? It might be frustrating. I dont know much about these things. Have you tried speaking to the hv?

how does he do at night? does he sleep through or does he wake a lot to eat?

sparkle- ooh its definatly fast enough, he guzzles it sooo quickly!! hehe

vickie- he sleeps from 10 till around 5.30-6 has a boobie feed then goes back to sleep till around 8. x

Hmm if he's sleeping like that than I'd go with what he's eating during the day :)

I'd just go with what he wants - during the day, Olivia sometimes has a bottle every 2 hours, then other days she can go for 4 hours......somtimes she'll drain her 5oz bottle, sometimes she only wants 3 oz.
My hv says to just go with what baby asks for - I'd check with your hv before you swapped formula though

xx

I agree, at his age that frequency is normal... When they hve 3 good meals a day they will go longer bettween bottles.
