how much should 5 week old drink?

Jacob is 5 weeks now and is taking 5 oz every 3-4 hours but last 2 days he seems to want more, I'm worried we'll be giving him too much if we give him more

i cant remember how much roo was taking back then, its prob different anyway cos it was EBM... but my HV did say that you cant really overfeed such a young baby, and if they do take a wee bit too much it will just come back up again, & to just go with what they are asking for.. she said ideally there should always be a half ounce or so left in the bottle, so if hes draining the bottle each time add an extra ounce in, its only when they leave some in the bottle that you know they have had their fill...

i wouldn't worry (i used to worry ALOT abt the amount LO drank) but if u think abt it BF babies don't get their intake measured...its a bit silly that FF mums worry so much about how much their LOs drink. as someone said to me once 'theres no oz lines on boobies'!
this does sound similar to Kian though. Kian's intake really varies though...he has days when he has loads and days when he has hardly any. He usually makes up for a non hungry day by having a hungry one the next day tho so he abviously knows what he needs.
I now offer him an oz or two more than he usually needs so that he can regulate his intake.
Like atm i offer 7oz bottles and he usually drinks abt 5oz but last night and first thing this morning he fnished the lot and yesterday afternoon he had 2oz!?
Babies r like big people and want different things at different times...don't panic if ur LO is not following a 'pattern'. If u FOD babies will naturally regulate themselves

thats really really rediculous! i wouldn't listen to that advice! i dont think u should ever withhold food from a baby...OMG i can't believe a doctor told u that!!!

Ya she said he shouldnt be eating so much so often because he eats every 2 hours 4oz sometimes more he was 8 lbs 3 oz at birth and now weighs 9 15 I think if hes hungry hes hungry im not gonna not feed him i do worry about him fattening up fast but he was also on ready made so it was much thicker. Silly doctors tryin to starve my kid geesh
