Is your wedding costing you? We are saving as much as we can at the moment to get married In the next two years. We need to know roughly how much things cost as we have mo idea. Jus wondering if you could do a basic breakfown of what we need and a rough prce thank you xx

This is mine, We are trying to save money where we can.

Church- not sure we are seeing the vicar in a couple a weeks, been told it about £320 ish for the basic cost then choir, organist, if you want it video, flowers etc cost more.

Reception is £4000 ish for 70 people (10 are children) drinks on arrival, canopes, sit down meal and 120 for the buffet in the evening ( we got a 10% discount cause we spent over £3000), Very lucky my dad is paying for this.

Car- We are borrowing my future father in law`s car and he is driving, so saving there.

Flowers- these are being paid for by future in laws

Invites, table plan, name places, order of service-We are making these ourselves, not exactly sure how much, but would say in come in under £100

My dress??????? (Budgeted £500- but would like it to be half that) Possible from inthelightbox, my aunt is a dress maker, so she is going to measure me and said she can tweak it. My shoes are from bhs £25, Tiara will be ebay.

Bridesmaid- Having 4, 2 little ones 2 adults ones! For the little ones dresses are £80 from BHS, shrugs £32 shoes???? hairbands from ebay £5. Adult ones, again same place as my dress, shoes BHS.

Photographer haven't got one yet, but looking at between £800-£1000.

Rings- ?????? (budgeted £400)

Suits for groom and best man, going to look in jan sales ????? (budgeted £500)

Cake-My aunt may make this if she is well enough, If not waitrose £300

Favours, table decoration ect £300

My friends are doing hair and make up.

My grandad is going to video the reception.

I`m sure I`ve missed something out!!!

But think depending on how big small you want it, fit it around you and what YOU want, not what anyone else wants you to have! Also if you have the time and are happy to shop around then you can save money in sales, especially if you know you have got the 2 years, start looking for bits now. Ebay is my top tip.

Hope this helps, Good luck, it`s exciting x

You can quite easily have a wedding on a budget - it just depends on what you want.

Sit down meals can cost anything from £30-£100 per person. Buffets and hogroasts are less.

Dresses can be from £250 - 5k + Dont try on dresses that are out of your budget, and if you really want one that is, try 2nd hand or sample sales

Weddding bands can be from £200 upwards - a plain band is obviously less than one with diamonds.

Silk flowers are cheaper than real flowers, and a florist who works from home will always be cheaper than a shop

Lots of things can be made by you - stationery etc.

Buy a wedding magazine and do your research in to suppliers - be prepared to haggle!

Photographers can be from £250 to 5k - depending on package and experience

I agree with Boofs it totally depends on how much you want to spend. The best thing is to look at how much you think you will have to spend and go from there.

As Boofs said don't try dresses on outside of your budget, I set a budget of £1000 for my dress and all the accessories and ended up getting my dress at the bargain price of £480 (supposed to be over £1000) as the shop I went to was closing down

Make your own stationary, or if you don't want too there is a love lady on facebook who does some gorgeous stuff really cheap.

Venue, depending on howm uch you've got to spend depends on the type of venue you can have really.

I agree with what the other ladies have said about doing things yourself, I have loved being so involved in the wedding and making the little things that people will notice on the day.

Also there is nothing wrong with doing a bit of haggling, many companies will knock off a bit for you!

xXx

In total our wedding cost around £2500! That included a sit down meal in the afternoon and a buffet in the evening. We saved money by growing our own flowers, not having favours, making our own invitations, etc, etc. There's no reason that a wedding has to cost the earth to be a fabulous day!

Beca

Umm alot. I haven't shopped around for prices as I've left most bits quite late, my own fault really.

Though I did barter with the florist today and got my flowers at just above cost price lol saving £75!

Ours is around £11000 so far but is going up however we are getting married abroad and having an expensive honeymoon.

I think ours is coming in at around 7k - 8k, but then my dress was about half of that. You just need to decide on your must haves!

I am not getting married until 2012 but have set up a spreadsheet & know roughly what things cost.. We are working on a budget of about 15k. Where i can save money i am going to

I reckon ours is going to come to about £15,000-£20,000.

The reason for that is that i live in Dubai and we need a marquee set up with catering and tables and pay for the church fees, the wedding rings, my dress was £1500 etc.

Just the catering and tents is costing us about £8,000-£10,000.

this country is not cheap at all, luckily my dad is paying for the wedding and i really appreciate him for doing that as i know he'll make it the perfect day!
plus he's giving me away :)
