How quick after a c section can u get pregnant again?

Some of u guys have gotten pregnant quite quick after it.

I think ill wait another few months and start trying because I have pcos so probably won't get pregnant quick x

I was told at my 6 week checkup ( after emc) that im okay to try when im ready. at 7 weeks pp we started trying when my daughter was 14 weeks i was pregnant again now 29 weeks and everything is progressing perfectly no concerns. :) x

They recommend 5-6 months at the least, but they reccoomend 18-24months for best. Some doctors will place you as high risk if you have one to soon (below 1 year) but normally no issues with the pregnancy. For VBAC some doctors wont even let you unless its been 24 months. So talk with your doctor. Its hard to say, as some poeple heal quicker than others, but its major surgery and the inner parts, uterus, do take longer to heal.

Your classed as high risk whether its 5 minutes after you get pregannt or 2 years. ( in uk) not sure if its different were you are. also i was told that though it is best to wait a certian amount for a vbac you could wait 10 yrs and still not end up getting a vbac or get pregnant soon after and get ur vbac it all depends on the mum and her spesific situation xx

God that was quick! I had a rough delivery with my son tho, they had to cut into rectus muscle to deliver him. I'm waiting till after my wedding to try, gotta shift this baby pouch in time for then.

I asked my doctor and she told me generally as a rule they tell u to wait at least 6 months.

I have pcos so I want to try for another soon before it gets any worse x

GOODLUCK!! hope u get pregnant as soon as you start trying xx

Congratulations! I can't wait to see a bfp for myself again!

I'm getting the implant until just after my wedding on the 22nd August this year then I think we're gonna try. Just gonna vaccuum pack our little boys clothes when he gets too big for them in time for the next baby, no doubt we will just have boys anyway lol! X

I was pregnant (surprise) when my daughter was 3 months... I had my 2nd section 1 year and 5 days after my first. Absolutely no additional complications whatsoever, healed faster and better after my second also.
Midwives didn't give me any timeframe to wait :)

At my 8 week check up, my GP was happy with my wound healing and said i can have an active sex life/exercise but to take it slow as a Cesarean is a big operation... she said that the longer you wait for the scar to heal the better.

DH and i wanted to have another baby with an age gap of 18-22 months... i came off the pill when DD1 was round 9 months old and 4 weeks later got my BFP. Now im due any time soon an DD1 will be 19 months in a few days time.

I wont lie, this pregnancy hasnt been the easiest and i have alot of complications - baby is fine but i've been monitored closely on a weekly basis. They say also a VBAC is prone to happen the longer you leave your body to heal. Unfortantely i wanted a VBAC but thats gone out the window due to my complications

I had an emcs which was straight forward except my daughter died (complications earlier in labour). When I had a follow up with the consultant she said most people are fully healed 3 months after so, especially in my case as I don't have a newborn we could try again whenever we wanted (appointment was 10 weeks pp)
My gp said the same, think she had 2 sections quite close together.
Good luck

I was recommended to wait 2 years, or 18 months at the least. I would say 6 weeks PP is way to early as there would be a huge chance of your scar rupturing. I think we might start TTC when LO is around a year tho.

i'm so sorry :hugs:

It's just hormones, don't listen to them. Baby will get so much more complicated. You need more time. Two years is advisable.

You don't want to rupture!...your life is more valuable now, your first baby needs you safe.

18 - 24 months is recommended. Your body needs a lot of time to heal and go back to normal, and back to back pregnancies are really hard for your body to recover from especially after a c-section. Plus the longer you wait the easier it is for your scar to heal and in return you won't have a bunch of scar tissue where your c-section cut is.

I have had two natural births, singleton and twins, so I have NO personal experience although I have heard from friends who have had csections that its best to wait a year.

I just wanted to say that its extremely common to want another baby as soon as you've given birth. I sure did, both times!! Sense prevailed though. Baby will get a lot more needy and trust me, as someone who was pregnant with twins when her son was only 11 months old, being preggo with a toddler is HARD WORK!!!

Still, I wouldn't have changed it My small gaps (18 months between son and daughters and 9 mins between the twins lol) has turned out great, they're all really close :)

If you want to try vac you need a do for that supports it. It all comes down to ur doctor and if you have any pregnancy issues.

I will be having my 5th c-section 1 1/2 years after my 4th:wacko: (my daughter was 7 months old when I found out I was pregnant again). It was our only surprise baby, the other 4 were planned and I spaced them all out to be about 2-3 years apart roughly.

I've always heard the 6 month thing, but have heard it takes 2 years to completely heal. I didn't space mine because of surgeries though, I just didn't want to juggle too many small babies at once, haha.

I can't say that this pregnancy feels any different than the others- the pain of the scar tissue stretching hurts just as much every time.

Superkat does your scar hurt all the time? I've only had one c section 2 weeks ago and it feels slightly tender when i walk, I wonder when it won't feel tender at all. We are planning to ttc in May this year for baby number 2 (My daughter was born 2 weeks ago) and then I will have another c section I think...

It is definitely normal for it to still feel sore this soon after having your c sec. I was sore for probably a month or teo after them, it lessened more and more...I would say it took me roughly 6mos-1yr before all soreness was gone. It won't be as frequent though and is more of an annoyance than anything. I noticed that it hurt mostly while trying to rebuild those muscles (exercising). I have noticed with repeat c sections the pain from the uterus stretching is a bit more uncomfortable, but that is something that will vary from person to person depending on the amount of scar tissue (I was told during my 3rd c section that I had more scar tissue than I should).
