Hi all I hope you do t mind me posting. I'm having an early section this week and have been told bubs will likely need to be taken to scbu. I have had steroids etc but due to combination of low fluid & my medical condition he needs to come now. I appreciate he is not extremely early but thought you maybe able to help...

Once he is born I assume you get a quick glance & then they disappear well then you are sewn up but unable to get out if bed due to the spinal. When & how will I get to scbu to see my bubs?

Hope you and your miracles are all doing well!!

Thank you in advance

I got to see my daughters about 4 hours after they were born. I had an epidural so was brought up in a wheelchair.

For later prems some mums get a quick cuddle first.

Good luck xx

Thanks for replying gosh 4 hours I bet you couldn't wait!!! I am really worried about everything so thankyou for replying. Hope you Lo is continuing to do well!! :)

My daughter came out crying and doing really well so I gotto hold her for a minute before they took her to NICU. I didn't have a section but I saw people that had them were brought in approx 4 hours later in bed or wheelchair.

Mine was taken right away but came back shortly after in the incubator, but I really couldnt see her from where I was. I didnt get to see her til about 8 hours, again in the wheelchair.

Thanks ladies I guess the men get to go with them? Gosh I really hope all is ok and I get even a quick cuddle. It must be so hard seeing them whisked away even tho I know it's best for them.

Thanks for taking time to reply!

I saw Freddie 7hours later, I had had a general so I was wheeled down in my bed, if I hadn't of been so out of it would have been embarrassing lol. It took so long because unbeknown to me at the time, both his lungs were punctured due to ventilation so they were working on saving him. X good luck x

Thanks Freddie'smom gosh that sounds frightening probably a good job you didn't know! How is he now?

He's very well thank you, two next Saturday and running rings around me lol. Hope everything goes well with your section

Aww typical toddler then?! I'm so pleased all worked out well for you. X

I can't remember how long it was with mine, but they sent up a picture of each of them because I'd had a GA and they were very busy working on them. Hopefully your LO will be in fine form and you won't have to wait too long! :)

I had an emergency C-Section at 31+3. I was able to see Ryleigh for a few seconds and kiss her forehead before they took her to the NICU. I wasn't taken to see her until the following evening, I assume because I had the spinal and was cathetorized. It was torture having my husband and family coming in my room saying how beautiful she was and not being able to see for myself. Good luck with your delivery. . I will keep you in my prayers that everything goes smoothly :)

Thanks bakebino that's what I'm really worried about (apart from obviously and most importantly my baby boy being well!) I'm going to be extremely jealous of everyone seeing him apart from me :(

What a fantastic way to start the new year having your Lo home :) hope all is continuing to go well for you!!

My husband did a great job of taking pictures and coming back to show me. Of course, it is not the same. At one point I actually told my family the could not go see her (hubby excluded) until I had been there, as I didn't feel right about that. They all obliged of course. Don't feel bad about doing something similar. It's your baby, and you have every right to want to see him first. I will look for updates on your delivery. Congrats!!

Thank you Hun I will keep you updated and I'm gla in not the only one with those feelings xx

After they were born, my girls were taken across the room to be evaluated. After 5-ish minutes, they were wrapped up and handed to my OH. He held them each for about a minute and then they were taken up to the NICU. I couldn't hold or touch them as my hands were tied down. After I was sewn up, I had to go to recovery until I had all the feeling in my legs back (took about 2 hours) and then I was wheeled up to the NICU, where I got to see each girl, but I barely remember that at all because of the pain medicine they gave me. OH was able to go up to the NICU while I was in recovery and he was able to see and touch them right away. I didn't get to touch or hold them until the next day, approximately 21 hours later.

Aww shelby that's a long wait :( how are they doing now?

They're wonderful! They're 3 months old now (3 weeks adjusted age) and have just tripled their birth weights! (They were 2lbs 13oz and 2lbs 15oz and are now 8lbs 8oz and 8lbs 15oz.) They saw their pediatrician today and she said they're right on track with their adjusted age, but have met some 3 month milestones as well.

That's absolutely fantastic! Great to hear, I bet try keep you busy ;) !

I guess I must be the exception here as I didn't get to see either of my two prems until they were nearly 48hrs old... I was extremely poorly after their births though and it wouldn't have been safe to leave HDU.

at the time, it felt like a MASSIVE deal...however now, I don't let it bother me. you can't change the past and I know the nurses had our best interests at heart.

praying for a safe delivery for you OP XX
