HSG.... Really Scared!

oh my word im so pleased i found this thread! I have to book my hsg when af arrives! (no idea when! currently on cd 31 :S). Are you allowed someone in with you?

you should take someone with you because you might feel a bit shitty afterwards but like mammawannabe says they may be asked to wait outside the room while you have it done. you'll be fine though, the nurses are very sweet and it really doesnt take too long :)

I had a HSG done exactly a year ago it was not bad at all other then a little cramping ( felt like AF cramps). and the cramps lasted for me all day. but its was so great knowing they are both open.

I dont think you are a right pair - chlamydia can affect anyone and as to your other half getting someone pregnant these things happen and when you are young you just dont think. No judgement pased from me.

How are you today? I have been feeling a bit low since the HSG I dont know if anyone else has expreienced the same? I think I was traking all this testing quite lightly and due to the intrusiveness and I think also because I didnt ask about the results there and then I just feel a bit bogged down with all this. Then again maybe I am just in a grump in general... have a girly evening tonight and as we aren't able to try this month I think a few extra drinkies might be in order!!! :happydance:

That's so funny that you wrote that, as although I was very happy that the tubes were clear, a few hours later I started to worry again. Which makes me cross with myself as I should just be grateful that they are fine, but I'm already wondering whats wrong then. It's as if I won't be happy until I know there's something wrong and then I can get it fixed and have a baby. :wacko:Madness I know!!!

If you want your results earlier I'm sure they will give them to you. I was going to write that you should try not to worry but if someone wrote that to me it would annoy me!

How did the drinks with the girls go? I find that usually cheers me up! (As long as no one pregnant!!)

Ps mamawannabe - Think a group is a great idea! Although I have no idea how to set one up.

It's great that there are a gang of us going through it all at a similar time!

:flower::flower::flower:

Hmmm I have no imagination but am thinking about a name. How about something like "Fertility testers, come join us on the journey!" That's rubbish I'm embarassed!

Will promise to post though! Have had a look at my dates and discovered (unless there is a mircale) (it would have to be a mircale, as haven't been able to "try" this month due to the antibiotics) that I will have my period when they do the scan.:dohh: Horrendous!!

I had a lovely weekend - marred only by my jealousy at discovering my friend is 2 weeks pregnant. I did a lot better this time though and didn't spend any time crying, which is an improvement. She did tell me to RELAX though:growlmad:

We just chilled in the garden and had our first bbq, roll on the summer that's what I say!!

Anyone get up to anything exciting this weekend?

There was nothing wrong with your suggestion at all. I'm also very unimaginative - I was going to suggest "Team 2010 Testing"??

We had a totally chilled weekend and I also had to try and deal with the company f a pregnant friend who does nothing but moan about the pregnancy. I would love to moan. I am off down to Dorset this weekend to the grandparents for my grandads 80th. Should be nice as since I moved to Midlands from Devon and my sister moved to Portsmouth we haven't all met up for ages. Have to go for more blood tests on Thursday... boo!

Well Ladies I made it out alive! I don't know what I was worrying for it was a walk in the park, to be honest I didn't feel a thing.

Both tubes ok and if full working order so thats good but what is next?

So thats 3 and 21 bloods ok, SA ok, and now HSG ok I am confused.

How are you lovely ladies today anyways?

:happydance:Yay! That's another of us ladies safely through!! Have you had your internal ultrasound yet? That looks for PCOS and endometriosis. I dont know about you ladies but part of me wants them to find something so that I am able to do something about it. My owrst nightmare is going into the unexplained category.

We have a nice group here where we are all around the similar point in tests... maybe we could set up a group.. no too sure how to do it or we could just carry on with this thread??

xx

Sorry babes, Only just seen this post.
I am really not looking forward to the internal ultrasound!! Have you had it done? Is that the only way they can find out if you have PCOS? I thought they may test for that in your bloods.

I think a new thread would be a great idea, I am trying to think of a name for it........I am sure we shall come up with something x

hi yomo, you're right they do a blood test between days 3-5 (if i remember rightly) of your cycle to check for PCOS but dont be nervous about the ultrasound scan its really not that bad, they just insert a thin probe inside you. it doesnt hurt :)

Oh thanks for that, had my 3 day bloods done at the beginning of the month not had results back as yet. Although it was the day after bank hoilday and may have a large amount of vodka in it lol x

Yes shall we go with that? I think you should put "fertility" testing in though, as others might think it's testing to see if your pregnant. Can you re-name this thread? It's got lots of stuff on it about the HSG test and would be good to keep.

What bloods are you having on Thursday? Are these just random ones where it doesn't matter which day you have them done? I've had those and also the date specfic ones.

I have made a promise to myself that if I ever get pregnant I will not:
tell others who are ttc to relax
Ask ppl if they are going to have a baby soon - I hate that one
Not to moan during pregnancy and remember how desperately I wanted it.

I expect all this will fly out the window though!:winkwink:

Dorset will be lovely, I hope it's still sunny!

Hey Yomo

I think this is what I am having next Wens, it's a scan of some sort. I need to check the name. I am due on then though, and am cringing already!!
Am trusting a_missy when she says there is nothing to worry about:winkwink:
I'll ask when I'm in there what it's actually testing for.

Since having the HSG my cycle seems to have changed. I was fertile really early this month and am already feeling the twinges which mean AF is on her way. I'm not due for another 2 weeks. Just wondered if you guys are having the same, or if I'm the only oddball!

haha ;) well i found it less uncomfortable than a smear test. i remember the dr showing me my uterus on the screen and taking measurments to make sure it was all normal. then they just push the probe a little bit deeper so it leans against your ovaries and they can see them on the screen.

i had cysts in my left ovary which she pointed out to me and she said she could see where i'd ovulated that month in my right ovary, it was pretty cool seeing it all but anyway it doesnt hurt and i promise if you can handle an HSG girls.... this'll be no problem

no i never had any changes to my cycle but i got my BFP the month after my HSG so it wasnt a usual cycle. the month i had my HSG i spot bled the entire 2/3 weeks until my next AF started though so i think theres definite room for them to mess your cycle up a little, i wouldnt worry.

 they'll get back to you "sorry but your blood results were inconclusive there was too much vodka present"

Yeah the sun is forcast to shine....:happydance:I have tried to change the post title but dont seem to be able to do it. I think we may as well continue with this post as don't want to lose anyone by transferring over to groups.

I certainly will not be telling people to relax... if I hear someone say to me one more time "you just need to relax" I think i might punch them in the face!!! (I'm not a violent person!)

Having blood test for progesterone tomorrow as its day 20 - i think AF will be here a lot sooner than the usual 24 days as I am feeling so uptight so think it might be the onset of PMT!
