He and I are going back and forth about which family member's name to use as our son's middle name. To be fair, I used my family/friend's names for our first 2 children so it would only be fair to let him choose the middle name from his side, BUT my grandmother is having a fit that my grandfather's name should be used (William). Below are our first 2 and the possible names for our third.

Jordyn Annabel (named after my best friend, Annabel)
Jakob Larry (named after my belated grandfather, Larry)

Our choices:

Noah William ( after my grandfather, William)
Noah Michael (after DH brother, Michael)

Both names are nice but i don't want to break my grandmother's heart but I also want to be fair to my husband.

Does your husband have a strong view on it ? Does he really want to use his brothers name.

I think it would only be fair to let your husband pick if you picked the first 2. It's his child, not your grandmother's.

If both your husband and grandmother feel equally strongly abotu the name used, preference should be to your husband using his brother's name since he's the dad and the other two names came from your side.

If he kinda doesn't mind too much either way, it would be a nice gift to your granny to use William.

Unless your DH isn't fussed and is happy for you to choose I'd go with his option; father trumps grandma when it comes to naming rights plus as you chose with your other 2 it seems fair.

I would use both names, but if that is not an option for you then I would say let your husband choose if you chose the names for your last two children it is only fair that your OH gets to choose, if we have a boy the middle name will be my OHs grandfathers name and I know full well my mum will not like that especially as it's the same name her no good father had but I'm afraid I don't care who gets annoyed this is mine and OHs baby and we should be the only ones choosing the names x

William Michael is a nice, strong name! Use both!

I dont see why your grandma thinks she has anything to do with this, its you OH baby not hers

if you name this one after a family member then what about all the other family members? where does it end?

I'd say as you have picked the other two then dh gets a say in this one!
My dh has picked both our boys names, I get to name a girl if she ever comes along!

Does your husband feel strongly about using his brothers name?

It would only be fair for your husband to pick the name after you chose the last 2

Could you not use both names? I think Noah William Michael or Noah Michael William both sound good
