i'll say boy but at that stage im not sure how they can be sure as boy/girls bits look similar. x
yes it is, the sex is evident from around 8 weeks! its just very small
and its not just genitals that display what sex a baby is, skull shape is also a big part of it.
the reason they dont often tell you until 20 weeks is because you could say 'i dont want a baby of that sex' and have a termination!

what and you could do that further on 16weeks onwords?
id be shocked if people were so ungratfull and selfish to do so.

Actually its not! The genitals are evident from 8 weeks but male and female genitals are identical until approximately 14 weeks. The only way to tell before 14 weeks to to make an educated guess using the angle of the genital tubercle (AKA Nub). This method has been proven to be 80% accurate in determining gender between 12-14 weeks. The sonographer can take an educated guess at this point but confirmation by presence of a penis or labia becomes 50% accurate at 14 weeks and 95-99% accurate by week 16.
The skull theory has NO scientific backing what so ever. The theory is accurate on adult human skulls but since the baby's skull is not completely formed yet it is not an accurate way to determine gender in utero.
Again, what I was saying is I can not guess on this pic because I cannot make out the genital tubercle since the leg is in the way. Im sure your sonographer was able to see it during your ultrasound and make a guess.

Honestly it happens, in this country it is very very unusual to be accepted for an abortion after 19 weeks without medical reason, but in many countries boys are more 'favourable' than girls and they dont keep girl babies
Look at China, they have 32 MILLION more little boys than little girls because of gender preferance lasting hundreds of years, resulting in basically a situation where in a few hundred years they would have bred themselves out, because it is impossible for every Chinese man to meet/fall in love with a Chinese woman.
Thats the most obvious country for it, but it happens on minor levels all over the world...
